115 Piotrkowska Street in Łódź is beautiful again. It’s not just the façade that has regained its shine!

115 Piotrkowska Street in Łódź is another example of the city’s great efforts to save valuable historical architecture. Not only are the historic townhouses located directly on the city’s representative street being revitalised, but also the neighbouring courtyards and outbuildings. 115 Piotrkowska St. has undergone a spectacular metamorphosis. Literally everything has changed here!

115 Piotrkowska Street after renovation

the 4-storey outbuilding with an attic and two adjoining single-storey buildings are somewhat hidden in the depth of the yard and away from Piotrkowska Street. As part of the investment, their comprehensive renovation was carried out, as well as a new functional division. Ceilings were replaced, an attic was added, new installations were made: electrical, water and sewage, and central heating. A new roof, damp proofing, new flashings and gutters and downpipes were made. Windows and doors were replaced along the lines of the existing historical ones, and additional windows and balconies were made on the gable walls of the outbuilding. The façade underwent conservation work and its original colours were restored. Rooms for bicycles and prams as well as a rubbish dump were separated in the ground-floor buildings.

One service unit has been set aside on the ground floor of an outbuilding; in addition, part of the ground floor and the ground floor have been allocated to a Local Activity Centre for young people. The second and third floors are occupied by communal flats and sheltered housing – furnished and equipped with the necessary daily necessities. The attic houses creative studios. 115 Piotrkowska Street is once again impressive, although to see it you have to deviate slightly from the main route of the representative street of Łódź.

In the late 1920s and early 1930s, there was a shop of the Łódź Power Plant at 115 Piotrkowska Street. It housed a fully equipped electric kitchen and laundry for public demonstrations.
