Stepping into this interior, you immediately feel that the 50-square-metre flat in Gdynia is more than just a living space. It is a place where the rhythm of everyday life slows down and the energy of the city is left outside the door. The owner, who comes from the south of Poland, dreamt of an asylum where she could rediscover her balance. Thus was born an oasis of calm designed by Agnieszka Błochowiak of the MOA Design studio. “Oasis. Space. Freedom.” – these three words became the starting point for the entire project.
Design by MOA Design – interior with soul
The cooperation between the designer and the owner took place in an atmosphere of complete trust. As Agnieszka Błochowiak emphasises, this time there were no elaborate questionnaires or many hours of consultation. “This time there was no 200-question survey. We met, talked and selected materials in one day. We continued to work remotely, but with complete trust. We immediately found a common language.” This kind of freedom made it possible to create an interior that was natural, harmonious and very personal.

Neutrality full of character
The interior of the 50-square-metre flat in Gdynia was to be bright, calm and neutral – but not devoid of emotion. The designer treated simplicity as a challenge. The key element of the composition was the large-format Italian tiles from the Kronos collection, which set the tone for the entire arrangement.
“I knew immediately that they would be the tone of the entire interior. They appeared in the bathroom, in the kitchen as a massive custom worktop and even in the living room as a subtle platform. And we made them into… a washbasin in the bathroom! That was the moment when I felt the interior really come to life.” – explains the architect
The consistent use of a single material gave the space a cohesive and elegant feel, without the need to go for over-decoration.
The warmth of natural textures
The neutral base is complemented by natural materials and soft textures: whitewashed French herringbone from the Polish brand Mat-tar, clay plaster in the living room, Italian fabric-textured wallpaper in the bedroom and a velour bed headrest. The attention to comfort and sensual harmony is perceptible in every detail.
This interior has been designed not only to impress aesthetically, but to be functional and user-friendly. Many practical solutions have been concealed within the built-in units, allowing every square metre of space to be fully utilised.

Light, art and emotions
The final touch to the interior was given by a classic lamp from &Tradition, a 1958 model. Its presence in the project became a symbolic confirmation of the shared sensitivity of the investor and designer.
“When the investor proposed it, I smiled. I have the same one at my place. It was a sign that we hadn’t come across each other by chance and were on the same wavelength.” – says Agnieszka Błochowiak of the MOA Design studio
The walls are decorated with Agnieszka Osinska’s paintings – subtle, poetic and slightly untamed. Their presence brings movement and emotional depth to the interior.
“Her paintings bring movement and lightness. They are not just decoration. I wanted them to evoke specific emotions to define the space.” – adds the designer
A flat in Gdynia as an oasis of everyday life
The project was created in an atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding, which, as the designer says, can be felt from the first step.
“I had author supervision over every detail, which makes me feel a special bond with this project. This interior was created in an atmosphere of trust and I think you can feel that when you walk in.” – agnieszka emphasises
Today, the owner spends more and more time in Gdynia – which is the best proof that the project has served its purpose. A place has been created to which one really wants to return.
