55-metrowe mieszkanie nad jeziorem Ukiel w Olsztynie.

A 55-square-metre flat by Lake Ukiel in Olsztyn.

The 55-square-metre flat on Lake Ukiel in Olsztyn, named “M | 55 m2”, is a beauty of harmony and subtle forms combined with classic elements. The project, designed by Kaja Dębska and Patrycja Paś-Gürtler from the LoveTo design studio, impresses with its simplicity, without being bland. Kaja and Patrycja managed to give the interior the right dynamic by introducing details and decorations. The interior was captured in photos by the reliable Hanna Połczyńska (Kroniki Studio).

As the architects themselves say, the starting point for the design was an in-depth conversation with the investor, who had clear expectations regarding the interior and the functional layout itself.

“In order to adapt the flat to the investor’s needs, we introduced a number of changes to the functional layout. As part of the project, we decided not to include an additional room, which allowed us to create a spacious living area connected to a kitchenette, a more comfortable bedroom, a bathroom, as well as technical and wardrobe rooms,” – say the architects from the LoveTo design studio

A huge advantage of the changes to the functional layout decided on by the investor is the creation of an open living area and the introduction of more daylight into the interior. The flat is located close to a forest, thanks to which the windows in the living room and the small terrace overlook greenery, which is rarely found in new buildings these days. Due to the investor’s frequent absence from the country, we decided not to use green plants in the design. In order to maintain harmony and integrate the interior of the flat with the nature outside the window, at M|55 we opted for earth-coloured materials: furniture in off-white and walnut wood, and natural accessories such as linen curtains, a wool rug and other accessories.

“We wanted the design to be minimalist, but also cosy. One of the most interesting solutions used in the living area is the covering of a section of the structural wall with simple furniture with a bookcase and a mirror. This allows for a subtle separation of the living room from the open vestibule. We have optically enlarged the narrow corridor by using mirrors integrated into wood-like panels mounted on the wall. The resulting ‘cube’ conceals the staircase leading to the flat on the first floor. We have arranged the small space under the stairs as a laundry room,” add the architects.

This is another solution that has made excellent use of the flat’s potential. The functional and aesthetic solutions used, as well as the carefully selected finishing materials, reflect the individuality of the investor, who lives in the United Arab Emirates on a daily basis. The timeless materials and high-quality furniture will serve her for many years to come. This modern yet cosy flat is the perfect ‘oasis’ for relaxation during stays in Poland.

The architects eagerly drew on well-known classics in their design, including Polish accents. Among the Polish furniture, you will find: a sofa, armchair and bed from Nobonobo (https://nobonobo.pl/), a Takemehome coffee table (https://takemehome.pl), as well as Ton chairs and table (https://www.ton.eu/). The sintered tiles in the kitchen and bathroom tiles are by Fondovale, the bathroom ceramics are by Roca, and the fittings are by Hushlab. There is also room for art. In this case, it is a sculpture by Norwegian artist Bente Kluge.
