It has a black façade and was built on a hillside in the Czech Giant Mountains. The house in the mountains was designed by ADR architects Aleš Lapka and Petr Kolář.
The building has 283 square metres of floor space. The house is located in the picturesque landscape of the area known as Nové domky (New Houses) in the Krkonoše Mountains. Its simple shape refers to the historical buildings of the region and is based on the classic form of a mountain chalet. The rectangular floor plan is integrated into the slope. The body consists of a lower cube supplemented by a gabled roof.
The mountain house was designed as a short-term rental property. The layout was designed to be divided into two parts on the first floor. In addition to the entrance, the ground floor contains the main living area with kitchen and dining area.
On the first floor, bedrooms and toilets have been designed. The upper part also contains bedrooms, which are connected to the lower levels by a separate staircase.
For the construction of the house, the architects chose a traditional method, brick construction with a wooden roof and beamed ceiling. Concrete appears in the additional exterior and permeates the interior, separating the living and dining areas.
The interior of the house is decorated with wooden cladding and furniture made of bleached spruce wood. Minimalism prevails here. The architects focused on functionality. Black armchairs, brown chairs and a stainless steel kitchen fit in with the modest colour palette. The lower part of the house has a wooden floor, which is only screeded in some places. The upper floors are designed in a similar aesthetic.
