This contemporary country house is a project by the OBIEKT studio, which reinterpreted the motif of a rural farmstead and proposed a modernised form strongly linked to the landscape. The design is an architectural response to the strict provisions of the local plan. The designers used them as a pretext to give the house an original shape and finish it with natural materials.
Contemporary country house
The starting point for the OBIEKT studio’s concept was the restrictions imposed by local regulations. However, instead of treating them as a barrier, the architects turned them into a creative design tool. This resulted in a single-storey house with an irregular floor plan, which stands out due to the variability of its shape and the different perception it offers from each side. The building was designed to respond to the terrain and exposure of the plot, while maintaining clear references to the archetype of farm buildings. The building does not reveal itself in its entirety at once. The perception of its architecture changes with the movement of the observer, encouraging them to explore the other façades.

The most characterful feature of the entire project is its multi-sloped aluminium roof, whose geometry changes smoothly. It organises the complex layout of the structure and integrates the individual parts of the house into a whole. Extensive eaves create natural canopies over the terrace and entrance area. The metallic surface contrasts with the facades finished with Siberian larch. Over time, the wood will develop a natural patina, which will further bring the building closer to the surrounding greenery of meadows, fields and trees.

Nature and a contemporary house in the countryside
The interior layout is subordinated to the work with daylight and the relationship with the landscape. The broken floor plan of the house allowed for the optimal opening of rooms in different directions, which translates into a varied atmosphere throughout the day. The central element of the living space is a large skylight in the roof, which illuminates the high living room area and enhances the impression of spaciousness. The thoughtful arrangement of the glazing allows for the framing of selected fragments of the idyllic surroundings. This makes the views part of the interior design. Nature penetrates the interior of the house in a controlled manner and creates a backdrop of rural landscapes.
About the OBIEKT studio
OBIEKT is an interdisciplinary architectural studio operating at the intersection of design, analysis and experimentation. The studio implements original designs for houses, interiors and commercial buildings, leading the design process from the concept stage to supervision of implementation. In its work, it uses analytical and design tools such as visualisations, diagrams and models, treating them as an integral part of the search for the optimal architectural form, embedded in the context of the place and functionally responsible.
