A dental practice as cosy as a house. This one is located in Gdynia

Its design was prepared by Daria Przewłócka. The dental surgery is located in the attractive location of Gdynia Yacht Park and offers its clients a beautiful design and great views. While waiting to have an eighth or cavity repaired, you can admire the yachts moored in the harbour.

When working on the interior design, the architect was keen for it to be cosy, giving a feeling of comfort like a house or flat and functional at the same time. White, which is so associated with dental surgeries, was deliberately avoided. Together with the investor Dr Adrian Kiepuszewski, the designer decided to move away from these colour stereotypes.

Right from the threshold of the waiting room, we feel different from a typical dental surgery. The leading colour is an unobvious mint complemented by a warm brick red. Fameg armchairs upholstered in “pepitka”, a bookcase with books on the art, architecture and history of Gdynia, a simple but intriguing reception desk and wood as the dominant finishing material. A turntable plays music to encourage relaxation. The equipment is at the disposal of patients, who themselves choose their favourite items from the record collection. The owner, a passionate photographer, has allocated part of the space to a photo room where he personally documents the fruits of his work,” describes Daria Przewłócka.

The interior also refers to the traditional, modernist buildings of Gdynia. This can be seen in the decorative use of bricks and arches. The only reminder that we are in a dentist’s surgery is a minimalist neon sign. When viewed from the outside, it blends in with the view reflected in the glass, while inside it is an independent decorative element.

The total area of the premises is 114 square metres. In the depths are two treatment rooms, also overlooking the sea. In these, too, the typical white has been abandoned in favour of natural oak veneer, brick and burgundy worktops. The rest of the treatment rooms include an X-ray room, a social area and a toilet. The latter has been decorated with fancy Wonderwall wallpaper, which transports us to a fairytale world of plants.
