A flat in Berlin full of art. Developed in the Am Tacheles complex

A new district is being developed in the centre of Berlin that is already attracting the attention of architects and design enthusiasts. The Am Tacheles complex comprises ten modern buildings designed by Herzog & de Meuron, Grüntuch Ernst and Brandlhuber Muck Petzet Architekten. Seven of them are apartment buildings and three are office buildings. The space will be filled with shops, restaurants and green areas, and the historic Kunsthaus Tacheles will be transformed into a cultural centre.

One of the flats in this prestigious complex is a 140 sq m flat located on the fifth floor. Its interior design was developed by Agi Kuczynska of Berlin-based TAKK Studio in collaboration with Iwetta Ullenboom. The girls focused on creating an elegant, comfortable and at the same time expressive space that meets the needs of a family with a child.

The focal point of the living area became the historic and iconic 1958 sofa, designed by Roberto Pamio, Noti Massari and Renato Toso. The furniture received a new upholstery in Kvadrat fabric in intense colours of purple and pink. It contrasts with the light wood and minimalist custom-made furniture. A cork table was placed next to the sofa, and the dining area featured a custom-designed table and chairs by Loehr furniture studio. The composition is completed by a Flos pendant lamp and lime plasterwork that introduces warmth and a unique atmosphere into the flat.

The kitchen is kept in warm nutmeg tones. The island is accentuated with lighting colour-matched to the furniture by Poliform. The sculptural quartzite table leg and the wall lamps in the hallway made of the same material resemble frozen water, adding an organic element to the interior. In the breakfast area, hockers and a painting by Peter Maximilian Ronsdorf in shades of pink catch the eye.

The study connected to the guest area is furnished with a desk made of veneer made of chevron wood and with height adjustment options, as well as a bottle-green vintage chair by Gilbert Marklund. The seating area doubles as an extra bed and the space is complemented by a wall lamp by Violaina d’Harcourt.

The bedroom is kept in a mood of calm and luxury. Green glass tables have been placed next to the bed, and an armchair by Eikund completes the look. The bathroom features onyx furniture and cabinets with built-in mirrors, giving the room a more sophisticated feel. The children’s room was designed according to the dreams of the youngest resident. In addition to customised furniture, there is a climbing wall and tropical wallpaper. Art plays an important role throughout the flat. A painting by Eva Jablonski hangs in the living room, works by Peter-Maximilian Ronsdorf in the kitchen and corridor, and prints by Ka Mochi in the private rooms.
