Its design was prepared by architects from the Architaste studio. The flat is located in Bochnia. It is a 50 sq m space that has become a comfortable place to live. The designers opted for eclecticism, combining selected motifs from various aesthetics.
The interior design was based on an interview with the owner. She provided examples of interiors she liked, but which differed from one another. The architects decided to combine all the elements into a single and coherent whole.
The flat is located on the top floor of a four-storey new residential building completed in 2024. Due to the location and the roof structure, several slants appear in the flat, among other things the dressing room is in a place under the sloping roof.
The interior consists of a hallway, a corridor, a bathroom, a bedroom combined with a dressing room and a living room with kitchenette. The hallway, despite its compact dimensions, has been arranged to accommodate a built-in furniture unit with space for a washing machine and dryer. In addition, space has been provided for hanging up outerwear. At the border of the hallway and the corridor, a hanging shelf with drawers for small items is designed, above which there is an illuminated mirror – a practical solution to facilitate preparations before leaving. On the right-hand side of the corridor, there is a high ceiling-to-ceiling furniture unit with shelves for shoes.
When designing the interior, the architects made several changes from the original developer’s layout.
We started the changes by moving the washing and drying function to the hallway, where we designed space for white goods behind the furniture development. We knocked down part of the wall in the place where the developer had originally designed the washing machine and made a recess from the side of the corridor in order to include a high, up to the ceiling furniture box for storing shoes. Thechanges also affected the bedroom,” say the authors of the project.
The original location of the bed was changed and the door was moved to the other side. In this way, communication was improved. On the other hand, the functionality of the kitchen was increased by the island, which, together with the table, became the focal point of this space.
A muted colour palette of white, grey, beige and black was used in the interior design. This was complemented by two distinctive colour accents: dark blue kitchen fronts and pastel green, visible on the tiles in the bathroom. The common space is dominated by light wooden elements made of bleached oak, which give the interior a natural and cosy feel. In the bathroom and bedroom, darker shades of wood are used, contrasting with the rest of the rooms, which emphasises the stylistic diversity of these zones. An additional decorative element is the gold accents in the form of fittings and furniture handles, which bring elegance and a subtle touch of luxury to the interior.
