In the heart of Kraków’s Grzegórzki district, in the modern investment Wiślane Tarasy 2.0, there is an exceptional flat, which at first glance enchants with its unique style and excellent architecture. The interior of the flat was designed by Mateusz Niepokój of the noplusp studio. It is a 150-square-metre space, which gained its final appearance thanks to a daring action.
Situated on the seventh floor, the apartment guarantees an attractive view of the Krakow skyline. Both the north and west directions reveal a kaleidoscope of urban landscapes, while three spacious covered terraces are a natural extension of the interior, allowing the charm of the surroundings to be enjoyed all year round.
Originally divided into six functional rooms, the flat is characterised by rounded external walls that give the interior a softness and subtle dynamism. The small number of structural walls opens up endless design possibilities, while the large glazing, low sills and high window frames provide excellent interior light. As a result, the conversion project was able to focus on fine-tuning the details while retaining the original, functional layout.
Modifications with respect for detail
The modifications carried out were selective. The key idea was to optimise the proportions and functions of the individual zones, without disturbing the original harmony of the spatial layout. Demolition was kept to a minimum, thus preserving the essence of the original design. The focus was on the new electrical installation, based on a flush-mounted mood lighting system that subtly emphasises the character of the interior. The bedroom, meanwhile, features an innovative solution – a bathing space separated by smart glass that provides the necessary privacy on request, building a unique atmosphere of intimacy and comfort.
The essence of minimalism
The interior of the flat was designed in the spirit of modern minimalism with an emphasis on balanced aesthetics and visual tranquillity. Natural materials such as oak veneer, matte quartz sinter in a deep black shade and expressive textiles lend elegance and tranquillity to the space.
The focal point of the flat is the open-plan living area, where the kitchen, dining area and living room seamlessly merge. The kitchen cabinetry, kept in a uniform form thanks to light wood, creates a coherent effect – the furniture fronts optically flow seamlessly into the walls, hiding appliances and emphasising the ‘hidden functionality’ that defines the modern approach to the arrangement.
Rhythm of light and form
In the lounge area, a modular sofa in shades of grey and an armchair with a sculptural character catch the eye. Furniture chosen in this way creates a space in which balanced contrasts become the key to a sense of harmony. The sparing black accents – tables and lighting fixtures – work perfectly with the natural light, which, through the horizontal slats of the blinds, introduces variation and depth at all times of the day.
The interior design is an exercise in attentiveness – in dispensing with decorative excess, the focus has been on the quality of materials, the play of light and the rhythm of textures. Every detail has been considered so that everyday comfort is elevated to a ritual where less is more.
