A house with an iconic design. It is a modern living space

The interior was arranged by architects Nicholas Gennari and Roberto Racy of Nar Design Studio. They filled a house in Surfside, Miami in the United States with iconic design made famous by global exhibitions. The result is a space that offers the opportunity to interact with sophisticated furniture while staying in close contact with nature.

In designing the interior, the architects wanted to respond to contemporary needs. People are increasingly working remotely. The professional world is merging with the private one, and home offices are becoming increasingly common. The design prepared for a client with a demanding professional life aims to provide not only a luxurious and modern home, but also an authentic sanctuary – a combination of nature-inspired tranquillity and a rejuvenating spa atmosphere. Filled with luxurious accessories, the interior is meant to reflect the atmosphere of the spa. To soothe the people staying here.

The client had the vision of a home that would not duplicate tried-and-tested solutions, but would offer something new and fresh. The client works in a managerial position in a technology company. Constantly working with computers meant that his home had to offer him close contact with nature and relaxation after long days at work. The main idea for this project was to create a luxurious atmosphere that would provide a sense of safe refuge that would embrace the user, a refuge like a contemporary cave.

The desired impression is already reflected in the living area. The high glass ceiling heightens the sense of space. The organic-shaped chaise longue standing here is decorated with a woollen fabric. This is an elegant accent. The seating area is complemented by two carved wooden armchairs and a monolithic coffee table made of rough stone. In this part of the flat, it was possible to incorporate elements whose aesthetic is continued in the following rooms.

Relaxing with a book in hand? With this form of leisure in mind, a wall was designed as a large, illuminated bookcase. At night, the illumination of the bookcase gives the impression of a window, lit by the last rays of the setting sun.

The dining room is the central part of the interior. It is the heart of the house. The natural stone wall consists of massive elements weighing 800 kg. Its austere appearance contrasts with the Sahara Noir marble table and the elegant wine cellar. The green dining chairs are reminiscent of leaves and create a cohesive zone.

When designing the interior, the architects used elements in earthy colours. Earthy tones dominate the background, with warm browns, soft beiges and sandy neutral tones creating a harmonious canvas. Accents of deep green evoke lush nature, while warm golds and bronzes mimic the gentle touch of the sun.

The living area is distinguished by a white bouclé sofa, complete with metal shelves, which adds character to the space. A bright red lounge chair introduces a contemporary and playful colour accent, while a coffee table with ‘roots’ brings an element of organic charm. As well as improving acoustics, the large green wall provides a strong connection to the outdoors, blurring the boundaries between inside and outside. Evening relaxation is also provided by a 140-inch film projection area. A hidden projector makes this possible. A bold armchair designed by Gaetano Pesce from the Up 2000 series is placed right next to it.

A real oasis of calm is the bedroom. Here, the architects opted for a dark green bed, behind which a headboard wall was created, combining the raw beauty of rough stone in the lower part with wooden panels arranged in angular patterns. A sand-coloured carpet adds warmth to the room.

Filled with iconic design, the house is an attractive place to live. It provides tranquillity and facilitates relaxation. In the evenings, it can successfully turn into a meeting centre to celebrate life with loved ones. And what a life!
