A glass villa in Abu Dhabi. It is a project by a Polish architect

Its construction will begin in 2026.The glass villa in Abu Dhabi is a new project by Marcin Tomaszewski’s studio Reform Architekt. The Oasis House is an example of modern architecture that stands in contrast to the harsh desert.

The extreme location of the desert will become the construction site for a glass villa designed by the Polish architect. The house will be built near Abu Dhabi, and its unusual form is intended to exemplify the idea of unity, in which opposites not only attract but also influence each other, creating an architectural and technological masterpiece.

The body of the building consists of two cuboids situated on a rock shelf. This unique terrain and the surrounding landscape were the main inspiration for the design. Although simplicity is an oft-repeated motif in the world of architecture, achieving it here was no small challenge. Local materials were used for the project, but in unusual ways. Sand was transformed into glass, the sun was turned into energy and the philosophy of the oasis as a wonder of the desert gave the whole a unique character.

It is often the location that is the main source of inspiration for the architect, forcing him or her to make decisions that have a key impact on the final appearance of the building, says architect Marcin Tomaszewski.

Despite the apparent simplicity and subtlety of the design, the architecture has been based on the precise principles of the golden division. The proportions of the facades and the location of the curves are the result of mathematical calculations, which Marcin Tomaszewski emphasises, saying: “no element has been left to chance”. In order to give the building a sophisticated dynamic and to reflect the harshness of the desert conditions, curved recesses were used, which refer to natural sand and rock formations. Their shapes are an expression of harmony with the surroundings. A key role in the design is played by the circles, which are outdoor, intimate spaces. They create unique enclaves that naturally complement the concept of the desert house, transforming it into a real oasis.

The residence consists of three circles, each with a different function. The first serves as the entrance to the Oasis – it is here that we have a monumental entrance with powerful gates and a lift that we can ride between the three floors. Floor zero is a huge open space with a living area and an exit to the second OASIS called GREEN NEST – this is where we have a green OASIS with a microclimate in which we can grow plants. We can get to floor 1 by means of a lift and stairs. The first floor is a relaxation area. A fascinating place is the third circle. It is a breach in the rock that has been transformed into a swimming pool – a place of respite from the hot climate. The subterranean storey is a mini spa, the exit from which, via a huge six-metre “teleport”, leads us to the water OASIS.

Tomaszewski has created a sustainable source of functional beauty that combines exceptional aesthetics with functionality and harmony. Through precisely chosen proportions and the use of naturally recycled materials, the architect has realised a form that is not only visually stunning but also provides comfort and utility for the occupants.

This unique symbiosis of mathematical precision and artistic vision has given rise to a new trend in architecture – contextual minimalism. The project proves that it is possible to create modern, functional buildings even in places that are difficult to access for people, using only familiar and proven solutions.
