A historic avenue of trees will return to Long Gardens. A competition for a development concept has been launched

The City of Gdańsk, together with the Gdańsk Roads and Greenery Management Board, has announced a one-stage, unlimited competition for the development of a concept for Dlugie Ogrody Street. The aim is to transform this street into an extension of the Royal Route with the restoration of the historic avenue of trees. Designs can be submitted until 8 November this year.

The revitalisation will cover an area of approximately 2.7 hectares, from the Stągiewny Bridge to the flyover in the course of Elbląska Street. The city wants Długie Ogrody Street to regain its former lustre and splendour. A key element is the comprehensive reconstruction of the road and its surroundings, including the restoration of the avenue of trees along the street.

The competition is a one-stage, unlimited and realisation competition, which means that anyone interested, meeting the requirements of the regulations, can submit their project. The winner will be selected by the competition committee. The project must meet certain criteria, which include architectural and urban composition values, consideration of historical aspects, quality and correctness of functional and spatial solutions and pro-ecological and pro-climatic solutions.

The selected winner will be invited to negotiate a sole-source contract and sign a contract for the implementation of the project. The total prize pool is PLN 120,000. Competition entries must be submitted by 8 November, 2 p.m., via the eContracts platform and in the form of padded boards, a folder and a memory stick directly at the organiser’s office. The competition is scheduled to be resolved in mid-December.
