How can you design a home that not only delights with its aesthetics, but above all reflects the character of its inhabitants? The answer lies in this project, created for a young family, where emotions, daily rituals and a space ready to evolve alongside the lives of its inhabitants proved to be the most important factors.
The design of this home did not begin with choosing wall colours or furniture. The starting point was getting to know the people for whom the interior was being created. A young married couple with a nine-year-old son dreamt of a home full of warmth, freedom and inspiration – a place where everyday life takes on a unique character thanks to carefully chosen details, textures and colours.
The home was not meant to resemble a catalogue-style interior. Instead of a perfectly stylised space, an interior was created that lives alongside its inhabitants. It is a place designed with music, books, family traditions and moments spent together in mind.
A design tailored to everyday life
The designers tailored the layout of the flat to the family’s actual needs. Although the existing architectural layout and numerous load-bearing walls posed a considerable challenge, they succeeded in creating a functional space in which every member of the household has found a place of their own.
The interior features a comfortable master suite with a spacious bathroom and generous built-in storage, a study which could be converted into a children’s bedroom in the future, concealed utility rooms, and spaces designed for the residents to pursue their hobbies.
The designers also paid particular attention to ergonomics. Due to the significant difference in height between the couple – the owner is almost two metres tall – all heights and proportions have been carefully refined to ensure comfort for both occupants.
Light that creates atmosphere
Lighting has become a key element of the design. It serves not only a practical purpose but also sets the mood of the interior and allows for the creation of different lighting scenarios depending on the time of day or the residents’ mood.
Wall lights, pendant lights and decorative chandeliers lend depth to the space and emphasise its multi-layered character.
Colours that bring energy to the interior
The designers opted for a combination of calm, neutral colours with bolder colour accents. This has given the interior a sense of lightness, freshness and a cheerful atmosphere.
The bedroom is particularly eye-catching. Choosing the right shade for the walls became a separate stage of the project. The aim was to find a colour that was striking yet conducive to tranquillity. Combined with the distinctive pattern of the upholstered headboard, this has succeeded in creating a space with a unique atmosphere.
The whole is complemented by soft forms, arches, subtle references to retro aesthetics, classic details and floral motifs, which lend the interior a timeless character.
Family heirlooms as part of the design
One of the most personal elements of the interior is a family embroidery passed down from generation to generation. The designers have framed it and placed it in the entrance area, so that it greets the household every day and serves as a reminder of their family roots.
It is a detail that perfectly illustrates the philosophy behind the entire project. A home is created not only by new furniture or carefully selected materials, but also by memories, emotions and objects that carry the family’s history.
An interior that grows with its inhabitants
The clients themselves were the greatest source of inspiration for the project’s designers. Their openness, warmth and positive energy are reflected in every room. The result is an interior that cannot be clearly categorised under a single style. It combines contemporary design with classic accents and subtle references to retro aesthetics.
The project takes on added significance because it was completed just as the family welcomed a new member into the world. From the outset, the house was designed to evolve alongside its residents and adapt to the different stages of their lives.
This interior tells the story of everyday life. Of evenings spent listening to music, books left on coffee tables, children’s passions and family memories. It is a place that not only looks beautiful, but above all serves as a backdrop for life and the new chapters yet to unfold.
