A 120 sq m year-round house has been built in Kashubia, designed as a place to relax outside the city. The eclectic interior design is the work of Patrycja Majewicz, who drew on local inspiration, natural materials and solutions that match the owner’s lifestyle.
House in Kashubia – a rural retreat
The investor divides her life between Warsaw and Lubieszyn, where she spends almost every weekend in the vicinity of her family home. This regular presence and strong bond with the area influenced the foundations of the project. The building was designed to be comfortable for short visits and longer stays, without compromising on comfort. The interior reflects the owner’s lifestyle, her need to cook together, meet with loved ones and freely use all rooms. The 120 sq m space includes an open living area, a bedroom with a wardrobe, a guest room, a study, two bathrooms and utility rooms.
The kitchen as the heart of the home
The heart of the home is the kitchen, designed with frequent cooking and gatherings around the table in mind. It was here that Patrycja Majewicz began creating the entire project. The room’s furnishings consist of black leather-textured fronts, surfaces inspired by thick linen, and brushed black granite. Above the worktop, there are Kociewie tiles, whose colours permeate into other rooms. The doors are finished with Wood Cream Rubio Monocoat in Fjord Blue, matching the hood hanging above the island. PEKA slat systems, which help to maintain order and ergonomics, prove their worth in everyday use.

Panelling plays the leading role
During the work, the designer decided to make some significant functional changes. One of the priorities was a private bathroom with a bathtub, so Patrycja Majewicz modified the original layout of the walls. A spacious bathroom with a bathtub was created on the first floor, accessible directly from the bedroom, while a guest bathroom with a shower was planned on the ground floor. A separate wardrobe was also created in the bedroom. Both bathrooms feature elements from the Silia collection by Deante Design Studio, including fittings, a console with a washbasin and accessories. Another unusual feature is the access to a television in every area used by the owner. For this purpose, a custom-made cabinet was built in the living room, equipped with a rotating screen visible from several places in the house and from the terrace.
A house in Kashubia and its eclectic interior
Wood plays a dominant role in the design, appearing in the interiors and on the façade. The walls and ceiling of the first floor are finished with panelling, and the idea to use it was quite spontaneous. This forced quick adjustments to the concept. In order to maintain the right proportions of materials, microcement was used on the ground floor, while the first floor features Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C oiled pine boards in the Savanna shade. The same product was used to protect the TV wall unit and the legs of the kitchen island, this time in Black. The interior of the house is a feast of handcrafted treasures and objects with history. Here you can find, among other things, a partition made of birch trunks, a custom-made glazed washbasin and renovated furniture with soul. Combined with simple lighting and contemporary accents, they create a unique Kashubian refuge that tells the story of the region’s rich traditions and the sensitivity of the home’s owner.
