A house in Roków. The interior was designed by Anna Mazanek

Modern minimalism meets homely warmth here. A small house in Roków got an interior designed by Anna Mazanek of the BIG IDEA studio. Bold colour accents were exposed on a light base and natural wood. The result is a classic space decorated with high-quality materials and subtle details. A house tailored to the needs of the residents.

Ground floor: a space full of life and energy

Right from the threshold, the house welcomes visitors with an intriguing play of contrasts. The dark terrazzo on the floor of the vestibule harmoniously interacts with the black glass door with its delicate metal structure. This elegant element was custom-made, allows the vestibule to be separated from the living area and, with its glass surface, provides light and a sense of spaciousness.

The living zone is a space to comfortably spend time with a cup of tea, a book or while chatting with loved ones. The zone is distinguished by a custom-made velvet sofa in fuchsia. The furniture adds energy and character to the space. The living area is complemented by accessories in the form of plants and an oak armchair with a woven backrest. A strong point is the wall by the table in the dining area. It has been decorated with wallpaper in a lush, floral pattern. The wallpaper refers to nature, warms up the space and adds lightness.

A play on colours. The original kitchen

The kitchen cabinetry is a design treat. The cabinets in a deep green shade harmonise with the bright terrazzo-patterned worktop. This pattern recurs on the wall between the cabinets, creating a cohesive and dynamic composition. In addition, elements of gold and black in the lighting make the kitchen not only attractive looking, but also ready for any kitchen revolutions.

The last room of the ground floor is the guest toilet. It features a wallpaper with a subtle floral pattern, which contrasts with the coral washbasin. It is the washbasin that gives the bathroom its unique character.

Home and private area

The residents’ private area is arranged on the first floor. Its harmonious design is intended to promote tranquillity. The owners’ bedroom is a space where warm pastel tones meet sophisticated form. An upholstered bed in a coral shade with a velvet finish is the focal point of the room. The bed is complemented by wooden furniture and wallpaper with a delicate, elegant pattern. An interesting accent is the velvet pouffe in a deep blue shade.

The main house bathroom on the first floor is a true oasis of relaxation. Coral pink dominates the walls and an exotic flamingo wallpaper appears above the bathtub. It brings a touch of fantasy and lightness to the interior. The wash basins have been cleverly integrated into the furniture fittings in a soft pastel shade. The floor, on the other hand, is decorated with fine terrazzo tiles. Visual order has been achieved with the built-in washing machine, dryer and storage compartments.

One of the most important considerations for this project was the consistency of materials and colours throughout the house. Light wood appears on the floors, stairs and furniture elements, forming the base of the design. Combined with the white of the walls and delicate fabrics – from curtains to upholstery – the interior is full of light and harmony. Elements of rounded forms, such as the rounded finishes in the kitchen or the gentle curves in the suspended ceilings, add softness and subtlety to the interior. Each room has its own unique accent – from fancy patterned wallpaper to designer furniture or gold details in the lighting,” admits Anna Mazanek.

The ideal living space

The design of this house is the result of close collaboration with the clients. An interview allowed us to determine the colour range, material base and functionality they wanted. Thanks to their trust and openness, the designer was able to combine these elements into a coherent whole, which on the one hand reflects the tastes of the occupants and on the other responds to the needs of a family with young children.

It is a home where every detail has been thought through. A place where bold colour accents, designer solutions and functionality work together to create a space full of life, warmth and character.
