The building is located in the village of Tvrdonice in the Czech Republic. The house was built from modules according to the design of the Eko modular studio and Semela Ateliers.
The modular timber construction system offers fast production, lightweight and strong structures, assembly without foundations, easy expansion or transportability. Combined with modern technology, such a way of building creates an attractive place to live.
The house is located close to the production facility of the family-owned company. The architects decided to obstruct the view somewhat by designing a long, horizontal office section and placing the residential section on the other side. The residential structure was designed vertically, creating a contrast between the connected buildings.
A living area with kitchen and dining area was created on the ground floor of the residential building. a private area with two bedrooms was designed on the first floor. Communication is provided by a solid wooden staircase. In addition, residents can make use of the home library and the roof terrace. The latter is ideal for barbecues or family parties.
The interiors of the family home and office area emphasise the warmth and soft form of wood. Wooden elements combined with monochrome floors create an elegant composition. Large glazings connect the interiors with the greenery outside, while allowing the interior to be insulated during cold weather. In summer, the interior is protected by roller blinds and external shutters.
