A house overlooking the Wool Valley. The design focuses on elegance and functionality

In a picturesque setting, a house overlooking the Vlna valley has been created with a design that combines modern architecture with functionality. Situated on a large, irregular plot of land with a slight slope towards the river, the building was designed to make maximum use of the landscape. The developer’s original concept was to build a two-storey house with a compact form, but as a result of a detailed analysis of the plot’s potential, the project evolved into a single-storey residence with a simple, classic façade and a fragmented body.

Architectural design adapted to the landscape

Małgorzata Grabowska and Marta Springer of PRODOM Architektura i Konstrukcja were responsible for the architectural and interior design. A key objective was to ensure that the surrounding nature could be enjoyed from every room, especially the living and sleeping areas. The building consists of five single-storey blocks, covered alternately with pitched and flat roofs, which made it possible to maintain the right proportions despite the considerable surface area. The main zone of the house comprises a spacious living room connected to the kitchen and pantry. This is the heart of the house, designed to foster the integration of the household members. Adjacent to it is the parents’ bedroom area, which offers comfortable relaxation with a view of the Wool Valley, both from the bed and from the bathtub located by the panoramic window.

On the opposite side of the building is the hobby area, comprising a library with a TV space and a spa area with a Finnish sauna and access to the terrace leading to the pool. In this part of the house, the floor was raised in order to provide an even better view. All of the functional spaces are connected by a spacious covered terrace, which allows free communication between the various zones and provides an additional place for relaxation from early spring to late autumn. It is equipped with a modern lamella roofing system, sliding glazing and heating for comfortable use even on colder days.

A house overlooking the Vlna valley – elegantfacade and interior finishing

High-quality ceramic tiles in two shades were used to finish the façade: brick-red for the living area and the parents’ bedroom, and graphite for the children’s area and the garage. The façades of the hobby zone and the sauna area were decorated with thermojesion wood and Siberian larch, used in an openwork form. The different materials and structures made the building blend harmoniously into the surrounding landscape. The interiors of the house were designed in a spirit of timeless elegance and functionality. In the communal areas, natural materials and a subtle colour scheme were opted for, while the parents’ bedroom was given a more cosy and atmospheric feel. The wooden and brick wall coverings, as well as the dark ceiling, create an atmosphere of relaxation and tranquillity, complemented by carefully chosen lighting.

Thanks to the consistency of the investor and the design team, almost all the conceptual ideas were realised. The result is an elegant and functional house overlooking the Vlna valley, blending in perfectly with the natural landscape. The property not only meets high standards of residential comfort, but also impresses with its modern design, refined in every detail.
