A kindergarten with a neon sign and a mural. This is a new project from muchaDSGN

The freshly renovated wall of the “Źródełko” Public Kindergarten in Wielowieś has just acquired a colourful story. It is a mural that combines local legend, landscape and children’s imagination. The author of the project is Konrad Moszyński of the muchaDSGN studio; his composition evokes the joy of carefree play while rooting itself in the history of the place and the surrounding nature. Alongside the distinctive neon sign, the mural is part of the kindergarten’s visual identity.

The mural tells the story of the place through the juxtaposition of symbolic and naturalistic elements. The centrepiece is a scene inspired by the legend of the spring – the figure of Napoleon and the white horse appear here not as monumental icons of power, but as part of a fairytale setting that becomes a contribution to a conversation about the past. The emperor’s presence has an educational function and combines historical memory with children’s adventure.

Surrounding the historical accents is the landscape of the Prosna River – a meandering stretch of river, which functions in the composition of the mural as a vivid, flowing line connecting the individual threads. The river motif refers back to local canoeing trips and to experiences of nature that shape children’s memories and imagination. The whole is illustrated with a warm, summer colour palette, thanks to which the painting exudes carefree and invites playfulness.

Konrad Moszyński has used a style that balances illustrative light graphics with subtle painterly details. The figures are simplified and friendly, the lines are soft, and the composition is clear – so that children can easily find the characters and motifs in the painting, and adults can see the hidden allusions. The colour scheme – lively but not gaudy – creates the atmosphere of a summer afternoon: yellows, greens and blues alternate with muted accents of white and red, giving the mural a slightly fairytale-like but authentic feel.

The title ‘Spring’ acquires additional meanings through the mural: it not only recalls the Napoleonic legend, but becomes a metaphor for the beginning – a source of story, memory and imagination.

The very name “Źródełko” alludes to a local legend, according to which, during the retreat of Napoleon’s troops, it was near Wielowieś and Wzgórza Małopolska

According to this legend, duringthe retreatof the Napoleonic army, it was near Wielowieś and Wzgórza Małgorzatka that Napoleon himself stopped to water his horse in this spring,” explains Konrad Moszyński.
