A minimalist flat in Łódź. It has an area of 70 square metres.

This minimalist flat in Łódź was designed by architects from RUUM Studio. The interior was created for a couple and their dog. The designers showed how a consciously shaped space can promote a peaceful and comfortable life. The design is based on the assumption that everyday life should take place in an aesthetic, functional and easy-to-use environment, free of unnecessary elements.

Although beige and cream colours have dominated interiors for several seasons, here a more contrasting black and white base was chosen. Thanks to the skilful combination of colours with natural materials and soft fabrics, a cold effect was avoided. Wood, pleasant textures and subtle surface variations give the space depth, while the monochromatic palette gains softness. The interior remains elegant and timeless, but at the same time retains its homely character, proving that cosiness does not result solely from warm colours, but from the harmony of materials, light and proportions.

Neutral shades of white and grey create a calm backdrop for the entire arrangement. The focal point of the living room is a soft sofa, designed for relaxation and spending time together. Its upholstery has been chosen to be durable and easy to maintain, which is important in a home where a dog also lives. In the bedroom, the atmosphere is created by an upholstered headboard and heavier curtains, allowing for a more intimate mood.

There is no excess of decoration in the design – instead, there are single, carefully selected accents that give the space an individual expression without disturbing the visual order. Each piece of furniture has been chosen to combine aesthetics with practicality, which translates into ease of everyday use.

In the living area, a round table set between the kitchen and the lounge area plays a special role. It is the natural centre of home life – a place for meals, conversations, work and meetings. Its form breaks the simple geometry of the interior, introducing lightness and fluidity, while at the same time organising the layout of the space. The free space around the table facilitates movement, which will be appreciated by both the household members and their four-legged companion.

The subdued colour scheme also prevails in the bathroom, which is decorated with small accents, such as white fittings from Internity Home. The flat in Łódź is an example of how minimalism can be both orderly and warm, economical in means but rich in… comfort!
