Agata Brach presented her latest realisation, which was created in the West Pomeranian region. The loft-style interior was intended to be raw, but at the same time cosy and functional. The architect talked about the project, cooperation with investors, as well as solutions that proved to be crucial in achieving the final effect.
The architect first met the owners in 2010 during the realisation of their first flat. “I was very pleased to hear from them when they once again approached our studio in 2021 with an interior design for their then newly built single-family home, thus entering the next stage of their lives.” – says the architect
The design guidelines were based on inspiration from loft interiors, which adopt the rawness of the space for comfortable living. The style is more homely than purely industrial and includes elements that facilitate everyday use, such as soft furnishings or decoration, as well as colour accents. In addition, it relies mainly on finishes typical of this style, such as micro-cement on the floors, mineral plaster on the walls in grey tones, metal bricks and wood.
The investors were very open to unusual solutions and the dream heart of the house was immediately found, which is one of the most designer fireplaces in the world created in the 1960s, the Gyrofocus designed by Dominiqe Imbert .
“This piece started to build us the whole interior layout of the living room the idea was that from any part of the living room the fireplace could be seen. And because the Gyrofocus has a 360-degree rotating hearth it fulfils this task perfectly! By positioning it in the central part of the living room, it has built up for us the layout of the entire interior function. Around the fireplace we have an open kitchen with an island, a dining area with a large table and a comfortable sofa from Nobonobo which is a colour accent against the wall with Wall&Deco wallpaper, and a black corrugated TV wall with metal shelves hiding the TV so that it blends with the black to create a background.” – adds Agata Brach
By the fireplace itself, there is also space for the unique Saba Sitar armchairs, which, thanks to their openwork construction, fit perfectly into this area without optically closing off the space. In the living room, there are also black Vibia North lamps and above the kitchen table also Depadova Mogura lamps in a light structure.
The built-in kitchen has a breakfast area that opens up behind a retractable front, where we have space for a coffee machine and a mini worktop. Behind the built-in tall building, we still have a passage to the spacious pantry. On the kitchen table side, the island is equipped with an under-counter wine refrigerator. In addition, the island on this side has been equipped with an additional auxiliary area made of sintered worktop, at which one can sit comfortably.
Throughout the living room we have microcement on the floor, and to add warmth to the interior visually, a wooden suspended ceiling has been introduced over the entire living room. Directly from the living room, there is an entrance to the guest bathroom, where the grey and black of the tiles is balanced with the warm shade of the wooden furniture.
“In the entrance area, we are greeted by Fondovalle tile with a black terrazzo pattern on the floor. For colour balance, we also introduced a warm shade on the wall with a large illuminated mirror as well as made a wooden furniture development with the entrance to the dressing room. A loft glazing separates the living room from the lobby. The clients also wanted the sofa in the living room to be separated from the hall by an openwork screen, for which purpose we made wooden shelves on a metal substructure as a perfect place for plants,” explains the architect – explains the architect
From the entrance hall, we also pass through an austere corridor with industrial hanging fixtures to the bedroom area with its large bathroom, dressing room, laundry room and fitness and guest area.
“In the bedroom, we placed a wooden headboard with Aromas sconces as a backdrop and a comfortable upholstered continental bed. We also made an openwork black TV cabinet. On the side of the bed, there is an entrance to a spacious wardrobe as well as from the bedroom we go directly to the large bathroom. In this bathroom, we designed a wooden suspended ceiling, which, with the same cladding, goes down to the wall in the bath area with the bathtub. On this wooden wall, we made an illuminated metal towel rack fixed to the ceiling, which gives an interesting visual effect in the evening. In addition, there is a sizable shower in this bathroom. On the wall with the washbasins there is a discreet passage to the laundry room.” – concludes Agata Brach
