Dwupoziomowe mieszkanie we Wrocławiu

A two-level flat in Wrocław. Inspired by nature.

The Ładny Kwadrat studio designed a two-level flat in Wrocław. The property is located in a new residential building in Strachowice. Its design was based on observations of the surrounding nature and the changes that take place in it throughout the year. The view of the treetops from the apartment’s windows served as a starting point for the designers to create an interior that reflects the rhythm of nature.

The lower floor is decorated in shades of green, evoking associations with spring. The upper part of the flat, on the other hand, is a nod to the autumn palette, with warm browns, red tones and intense accents. This colour scheme creates a fluid narrative of the passing seasons and inscribes the flat into the natural rhythm of its surroundings.

A well-thought-out functional layout

The 75 sq m flat is located on the top two floors of a new building and was designed for a family of three. The first level features a living room with a kitchen and dining area, as well as an entrance hall and a toilet with a laundry function. The upper floor houses the private area for the household members – two bedrooms and a bathroom. The entrance area has been arranged in a minimalist but well-thought-out manner. The main feature here is the oak carpeted staircase, whose openwork balustrade made of vertical bars also appears in other parts of the flat as a recurring motif. The space under the stairs has been used as a built-in storage area. Decorative, colourful lamps hang above the staircase, adding a colourful, light accent.

Living space surrounded by greenery

The hallway leads to an open living area. The living room, kitchen and dining room are filled with natural light that streams in through large windows overlooking the park. The dominant colour in this part of the flat is green – subdued and muted, similar to the colours outside the window. Wooden parquet flooring and carefully selected textures emphasise the feeling of closeness to nature. The interior features a play of contrasts. The neutral colour palette is broken up by black, geometric accessories, such as a Nooma coffee table and paintings by Justyna Małczak. The U-shaped kitchen is visually separated by tiles with a geometric pattern. The fronts of the upper cabinets are made of mirrored material that reflects light and a flower bed filled with green plants suspended above the kitchen peninsula. The peninsula, which houses a sink suspended from a white conglomerate countertop, also serves as a bar with seating. In the dining room, upholstered seating was used instead of traditional chairs. This solution saved space and added cosiness to the interior. Another distinctive element is the abstract painting by Aleksandra Kaliszan and the Bau lamp by Normann Copenhagen.

A two-level flat in Wrocław – geometryand autumn colours

The lower bathroom is decorated in green tones and based on geometric forms. The walls are covered with tiles from the I Colori collection by Cesi. Laundry equipment is hidden behind mirrored fronts, which helps to keep the space tidy and visually enlarge the interior. The upper floor is dominated by autumn colours. In the bedroom, the ceiling, painted in warm shades of red, plays the main role, contrasting with the neutral walls. Their texture, achieved using the lime wash technique, gives the interior depth. A large paper lamp above the bed and decorative wall lamps complement this space with soft light. Natural materials, such as wooden flooring, woven fabric on the wardrobe fronts and an upholstered bed, create an atmosphere of comfort and autumnal cosiness.

Upper bathroom – intense colour accent

Despite its limited size, the upstairs bathroom accommodates both a shower and a small bathtub. The colour scheme continues the theme of the bedroom – a juicy shade of terracotta on the ceiling and Omnires washbasin contrasts with the white wall tiles and floor mosaic from the Tesserae collection by WOW. The plywood furniture brings balance and order to the expressive elements of the decor. Geometric forms return here as a motif that ties the entire design together.

A two-level flat in Wrocław and its harmonywith the surroundings

This design by Ładny Kwadrat is an example of a coherent and thoughtful approach to interior design. The flat draws inspiration from nature, but also allows for a constant dialogue with its surroundings. The colour scheme, in keeping with the rhythm of the seasons, and the careful selection of materials and details make the space an integral part of the landscape outside the window.
