This is an example of the use of eclecticism in interior design. The two-storey house is located in a modern complex in Gdynia. Aleksandra Sowa of ASID Studio is responsible for its interior design. The designer took a comprehensive approach to her task. Every part of the interior is like an attractive frame.
When working on the interior design, the architect wanted to place maximum emphasis on comfort and relaxation. The project was created for a family from Warsaw who love to spend time in Gdynia. The total area of the entire house is 250 square metres.
The interior stands out right from the entrance. Instead of a standard layout, the interior is accessed through an entrance from level zero, where the garage and vestibule are located.
This solution allows you to conveniently leave your outerwear and footwear before moving on to the spacious living area on the first floor, says the designer.
On the first floor, an open space has been created that combines several functions. There is a kitchen area, a dining area and a living room. This heart of the flat is 60 square metres and an additional residents’ zone is the terrace, which can be accessed by sliding glass doors. The large number of windows not only provides beautiful views, but also fills the interior with natural light.
The focal point of the dining room is the table, which was custom-made. In this part of the flat, all details have been carefully considered. The elegant space is decorated with Patagonia quartzite inserts. The walls feature fluted panels that introduce an interesting texture and play of light, contrasting with the smooth surfaces. Brushed brass sheeting warms the interior and adds a touch of glamour.
The icing on the cake are the beautiful light fittings from Atelier Areti and Gubi, which, with their subtle, modern design, complete the entire arrangement, adds Aleksandra Sowa.
An interesting treatment is the placement of a smoked mirror in the bookcase by the kitchen, which not only optically enlarges the space, but also adds elegance and mystery to it. The entire living area is kept in light colours.
The private area is slightly more colourful. In the master bedroom, olive tones in graphics and furniture bring a touch of freshness. Bedside tables with green onyx tops add a light touch and correspond to the design of the parents’ bathroom. The latter is an elegant space in warm beige. Its focal point is the washbasin cabinet in green onyx. Brass accessories (faucets and lamps from Pholc and Rubn) add elegance and a sense of luxury to the room.
The designer took an unconventional approach to the toilet. She placed a patterned cement floor in brick-tones on the floor, which contrasts interestingly with the rest of the room. A gleaming washbasin, a bold Trone toilet bowl and a satin-finished laundry area make a modern statement.
This flat in Gdynia is a perfect example of the harmony between modern design and functionality. Every detail has been carefully chosen to create a space ideal for rest and relaxation, providing the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life,” concludes the designer.
