An abandoned villa on Cicha Street in Poznań will become the headquarters of the CWRKDiZ

Poznań is gaining a new vocational training centre. The historic villa at 7 Cicha Street, thanks to a decision by the Wielkopolska Voivodship Board and support from European funds, will be transformed into the modern headquarters of the Crafts, Vocational and Dual Education and Training (VET) Support Centre. The redevelopment, which is already underway, will combine respect for the past with innovative solutions, creating ideal conditions for the development of vocational skills in the region.

The project to adapt the villa at 7 Cicha St. is part of a wider initiative to increase the effectiveness of vocational training in Wielkopolska. The task, implemented under Measure 5.1 ‘Improving equal access to high quality education, training and lifelong learning through support for educational infrastructure’, involves not only renovating the existing building, but also extending it. According to the plans, the villa will regain its original exterior, destroyed about a decade ago, and its façade and colours will be restored to their historic state. Modernity will instead enter in the form of a two-storey extension on the north-west side. This partially glazed structure will be decorated with vertical gardens with their own irrigation system. The new wing will include a staircase with lift, office space and a workshop pavilion.

The designers have taken care of the details, taking into account the recommendations of the urban conservationist. The technical infrastructure will be hidden inside the existing building so as not to increase its volume. The roofs of the new part, including the glazed workshop pavilion and staircase, will be transformed into green spaces. The area around the villa will also undergo changes. An entrance will be located on the side of Cicha Street and a car park with five spaces, including one for people with disabilities, will be created in the northern part of the plot. The car park will be equipped with a shelter with a photovoltaic installation and a charging station for electric vehicles.

The Craft, Dual and Vocational Education Support Centre in Poznań, which will use the new premises, plays a key role in the promotion of vocational education in Wielkopolska. It organises conferences, training courses and workshops, cooperating with educational institutions, employers and other institutions in Poznań and 11 surrounding counties. The new location at Cicha 7 will enable CWRKDiZ to intensify its activities, especially in the Poznań subregion. The new workshop wing will host career guidance classes and individual meetings with students, parents and adults planning to retrain, which will contribute to strengthening cooperation between schools and the local labour market.
