An apartment in Warsaw’s 19th District. The architects opted for a minimalist style

Close to the very heart of Warsaw, in one of the buildings in District 19, architects from RUUM studio have designed an apartment that acts as a counterbalance to the city’s hustle and bustle. This spacious 100-square-metre layout was planned as a private sanctuary for a family of three – a place where, after a demanding day, they can regain their peace of mind and a sense of harmony.

The design is based on a clear division of functions, tailored to the residents’ lifestyle. The flat comprises: a master bedroom with a private study and walk-in wardrobe, a child’s room, a guest room, a bathroom, a small laundry room and an expansive living area. It is this area that forms the focal point of the flat – a space where daily activities, relaxation and shared moments come together.

A carefully considered colour palette

The architects opted for a muted, elegant colour scheme. Off-whites, warm beiges and a deep, walnut-coloured wood tone form the base, lending the interior a timeless character. The design features sintered stone with a subtle, stone-like veining – a material that introduces a natural pattern and emphasises the quality of the finishes. The whole is complemented by the soft lines of the built-in furniture and rounded forms, which lend the space a contemporary lightness.

Living area

The most impressive part of the flat is the open-plan living area, designed as a sequence of three functions. The kitchen catches the eye with its elegant sintered stone paired with dark joinery, creating a balanced, refined composition. In the dining room, a large table takes centre stage – a natural gathering point for the household – accentuated by a decorative lamp with a striking form. The lounge area is built around a soft, beige corner sofa, whose enveloping form encourages relaxation.

The bathroom is designed in the style of a modern spa. It features stone-inspired surfaces, minimalist fittings and clean-lined built-in units. Subtle combinations of materials and a minimalist design create an atmosphere conducive to tranquillity.

The child’s room stands out with a green accent, which brings freshness and energy whilst remaining in harmony with the rest of the apartment. This interior has been designed with comfort and development in mind, without compromising on aesthetic coherence.

A new take on the classics

The RUUM studio design is an example of skilfully balancing classic and modern styles. An elegant base, high-quality materials and subtle details create a space that stands the test of changing trends. The flat becomes a place to breathe – a consciously designed enclave of calm in a dynamic part of the city.
