It is a sizable building with a clean, traditional form. Its design was prepared by architects from the Agence Spatiale studio. The building was constructed on the shores of Lake Saint-Joseph in Canada. The timeless house consists of several parts, but all are distinguished by pitched roofs. This treatment ensures that the aesthetics of the building will still be attractive even many years from now.
The house is designed with three main volumes connected by passageways. They are all located at garden level, while the ones above seem to float, creating a sense of lightness. Their orientation has been carefully planned to provide the best views of the lake, while trying to merge with the surrounding nature.
The main part of the house is a three-storey building that visually integrates with the wooded area. The flat roofs of the connectors, do not interfere with the view axes. The architecture of the entire development is characterised by a series of stepped volumes, emphasising certain recesses created to provide a sense of privacy for the residents.
One of the original aspects of the design is the guest pavilion below the main part, which is like a small estate. It provides privacy for guests and is an almost perfect replica of the main residence in a smaller version.
The choice of materials is based on a simple and natural palette. The garden level, which forms the solid foundation of the composition, is entirely covered with grey stone. Higher up, lighter materials in a sand colour have been used. The garage is clad in graphite-grey wood.
The interior layout reflects the concept of a pavilion-residence. At the garden level, the spaces have been designed with functionality and comfort in mind. A guest suite, isolated from the front, is located on this level. Here, residents can also enjoy the swimming pool and an additional kitchen with living room. A master bedroom has also been designed on the ground floor.
The sense of closeness to nature has been preserved through numerous glazings. Window openings appear at the ends of the corridors and in the corners.
