The eclectic tenement house, located at 12b Na Stoku Street in Gdańsk, is undergoing a comprehensive renovation as part of the ‘Revitalisation of Biskupia Górka and Stare Chełm’ programme. The building, which was built in 1900, is set to become a place to serve residents once again thanks to an investment led by Gdańskie Nieruchomości. Work began in December 2022 and is scheduled for completion in October/November 2024. Although finishing work is still underway, it is already possible to admire the effect of the comprehensive renovation.
Two council flats will be created in the tenement and all works are being carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the conservation work programme, which will ensure that the original character of the building is preserved.

The scope of the renovation included horizontal and vertical insulation, the construction of a new foundation slab and thermal insulation of the foundation walls. As part of the work, a new roof with wooden rafters was also built and meticulous conservation work was carried out on the façade. An important element of the renovation is the repair and restoration of architectural details, which emphasises the unique style of the building. New doors and windows with historic divisions also fit in with the renewed image of the building.

All ceilings have been replaced with reinforced concrete monolithic ceilings, which improves the durability and stability of the building. Inside the building, finishing work is currently underway, which includes fitting the flats with bathrooms and kitchenettes. The modernisation also included new sanitary, water supply, ventilation, electrical, teletechnical installations, as well as fire protection and earthing systems. A state-of-the-art building management system (Building Management System) was also installed, which will allow energy and utility consumption to be monitored, contributing to the energy efficiency of the townhouse.

The value of the entire investment is more than PLN 1.5 million. The renovation of the tenement house is not only a restoration of the former splendour of the monument, but also an important step in the revitalisation of the historical areas of Gdańsk, of which Biskupia Górka is one.
