Her home is located near Konstancin. Although she is an interior stylist herself, Paulina Kresa invited the JOFI STUDIO studio to design her interior. Thanks to a good understanding of her needs and expectations, they managed to design a contemporary and functional home for the whole family. Light reigns here, penetrating through irregular windows and foxholes. The whole is complemented by bold colours and Bauhaus-inspired elements.
The house itself is so illuminated that it was a shame not to use this aspect in correspondence with the interior elements. In addition, large expanses of glass let in the greenery surrounding the house. Our aim was to create a space that would fit in with this tranquillity, yet reflect the vibrant nature of the client and her family. The colours, forms and detailing are something in which their expressive, everyday lives are reflected, say the architects at JOFI STUDIO.
In total, the building is 250 square metres. The ground floor consists of a lobby that opens onto the living room. Other rooms include a kitchen with dining area, a dressing room and a study. The living area interpenetrates each other, the kitchen and dining room visible from the living room, are its compositional complement.
The whole is linked by colours and details, with blue and burgundy predominating. The detail element of the kitchen is a repetition of the dynamics of the floor detail in the design of the kitchen fronts. The designers used this treatment not to compete, but to complement the expressive flooring that leads us from the entrance, through the living room and into the kitchen. The colourful kitchen transitions into the calm dining room. The rhythm of this part of the space is given by the chairs designed by Giancarlo Piretti for the Italian manufactory Castelli.
A strong decorative element of the interior is the maroon balustrade. It connects the living area on the ground floor with the night area on the ground floor. Its form is reminiscent of Bauhaus, the owner’s favourite style.
In addition to the functionality we had to bear in mind when designing a house for a family with children, the openwork of the balustrade, combined with the outside light, creates an amazing play of shadows, the architects add.
The foxholes that illuminate the night area are attractive. The bedroom and the main bathroom are isolated from the rest of the house. They constitute a completely different space. Their design is subdued and conducive to relaxation. In arranging the entire house, interior stylist Paulina Kresa shows an aesthetic that is close to her.
