BezRodzynek Cake Studio. Inside is a sweet world

A space has been created in Poznań that proves that architecture can taste. The BezRodzynek cake studio, designed by the mode:lina architekci team under the direction of Kinga Kin, is housed in a small interior, yet offers a complete aesthetic experience. It is a place where the world of confectionery has been translated into the language of architecture, and every detail is a reminder of the source of inspiration – a cake stripped down to its layers, creams and decorations.

The whole is immersed in a warm shade of pink, which organises the space and allows the focus to be on the textures. Against this monochromatic background, the central element stands out clearly – a long counter with a display case for baked goods. Its base, made of transparent glass blocks of varying textures, catches reflections in the daylight and distorts the image, creating a jelly-like effect. The counter top and floor are finished with tiles in an irregular pattern reminiscent of crushed chocolate. This graphic motif balances out the uniform colour scheme of the walls and ceiling, adding depth to the interior while remaining practical.

Confectionery motifs recur in the details – profiled cornices with a ‘pearl’ rhythm surround the walls and ceiling like a cream cake border, the legs of the furniture take the form of spherical, repeating elements, and the tops of the window tables are cut in a wavy shape, reminiscent of sugar decorations. All this builds up an atmosphere in which the architecture becomes a narrative about sweets, but without exaggeration or pathos.

The layout of the interior is subordinated to the work of the studio. The counter was placed in the axis of the entrance, so that it immediately leads the eye to the cake display. The technical facilities are hidden behind a wall of glass blocks and discreetly integrated doors, so that visitors can see the orderly, representative part, while the baking process remains in the background. In the evening, the space takes on additional character thanks to the neon sign with the name ‘BezRodzynek’ hanging above the counter. Its soft, ‘drawn’ line accentuates the ceiling and makes the interior a prominent point visible from street level. During the day, the sidelight brings out the reliefs of the stucco and tile structure, changing the perception of the space without interfering with the colour scheme.

The BezRodzynek project is a manifesto of the philosophy of the mode:lina architects studio. The interior is not just a backdrop for the brand, but becomes its tool. It is a space that tells the story of artisanal cakes through architecture, creating an experience that is recognisable, finely detailed and unsweetened.
