Biskupia 8a

Biskupia 8a in Gdańsk underwent a comprehensive renovation as part of the Gdańsk Properties programme

The building located at 8a Biskupia Street in Gdańsk has regained its former glory. This is the fifth investment carried out in this neighbourhood under the Revitalisation programme. The building was erected at the beginning of the twentieth century and is a historical building, listed in the Communal Register of Historical Monuments. It has stood abandoned for years, causing it to deteriorate significantly. The building currently contains four residential units.

The renovation work included horizontal and vertical insulation and a foundation slab. All existing ceilings were replaced with new reinforced concrete monolithic ceilings. In addition, new plastering was carried out and a new roof with wooden rafters was laid. The staircase was reconstructed to match the historic ones.

The renovation work also included thermal insulation of the roof, the external walls of the basement and the external walls above ground level. The guttering, downpipes and flashings were then replaced. The window and door joinery was replaced with new joinery that mimics historic forms.

New detailing and eaves dressings were carried out, and conservation work was carried out on the brick façade of the building and architectural details were repaired and restored. The interiors of the dwellings were finished and partly fitted out, and a room was prepared for the central heating and hot water heating centre. Comprehensive installation work and teletechnical works completed the whole project.

The renovation of the tenement at 8a Biskupia Street began in September 2022 and was completed in June 2024. The cost of the investment was more than PLN 3.3 million. The Revitalisation Programme is co-financed by the Pomeranian Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020.
