Saska Kępa has gained a unique gem that has recently joined the family of culinary concepts – after the ‘Muszelka’ café, the time has come for its sister bistro ‘Perełka’. Hidden away in a 54 sq m modernist pavilion, the space is an oasis where modern Polish cuisine meets original design and refined taste. The interior of ‘Perełka’ was designed by architects from the CUDO studio:.
The heart of the entire bistro is the open kitchen which, with its energetic, pink arrangement, invites guests to observe the culinary theatre where the chefs create unique dishes. The room’s elongated layout has been designed to make the most of the space – irregular stone tables, set along the walls, create cosy nooks, while an elegant, stylish bar dominates the interior. This balanced composition allows for a relaxed celebration of moments in an intimate atmosphere, where every detail plays an important role.
Materials and finishes
The interior of the “Pearl” is a masterful combination of contrasting materials – the rawness of nature is juxtaposed with warm, elegant accents. The irregularly shaped stone table tops give the space a refined feel, while the lightweight bentwood and woven rattan chairs introduce a natural accent, warming the whole environment. The deep burgundy colour, which dominates the interior, gives it intensity and cosiness, while the energetic pink tones of the open kitchen complete the composition, introducing a dose of freshness and dynamism.
Details
It is impossible not to notice the architectural gem of the project – a portal with wavy edges, whose shape is reminiscent of sea waves and corresponds to the name of the bistro. In the window, a suspended pearl lamp acts as a light curtain, catching the eye of passers-by and giving the place a unique, theatrical feel. The lighting has been designed in layers – the soft, diffused light of Daisy’s LED tubes works in tandem with spaced spotlights that accentuate the stone textures and details of the interior, giving the space depth and intimacy even with the limited space.
A smile of yesteryear
The visual identity of ‘Perełka’, created by HART Studio, is a tribute to the aesthetics of Warsaw signs from the 1960s and 1970s, but blended into a modern context. The key element of coherence with the ‘Shell’ café is the use of a subtle gradient – moving from warm beiges and browns, through deep maroon, to a sophisticated blue, evoking maritime associations and summer light. The logo, with its delicate circle motif, is a direct reference to the bistro’s name, and the discreetly designed facade markings of the modernist pavilion harmonise with the building’s architecture, leaving a lasting impression.
“Perełka” is not just a bistro, but a well-thought-out space where every interior element, even the smallest, has been carefully selected to create a coherent and inspiring whole. It is a place conducive to long conversations, attentive tasting of food and celebration of moments. With its modern approach to Polish cuisine and original design, “Perełka” redefines the standards of bistros in Saska Kępa, providing guests not only with culinary sensations but also with artistic experiences that stay in the memory for a long time.
