In contemporary interiors, we are increasingly seeing a fascination with vintage style, which evokes the spirit of past eras. However, with modernity, freshness and a slightly bold colour accent, a space can be given a completely new dimension. An example of such a harmonious fusion is the blue flat, where classic details are combined with innovative solutions to create a coherent and original interior. The space was designed by Marta Siedlok.
The blue flat refers to the vintage style through the presence of intricate rosettes and stucco, which give the space a unique charm. The abundance of natural stone and wood completes the whole, evoking the warmth of traditional arrangements. The use of materials such as sinter – which appears in the kitchen, mobile furniture and lamps alike – is a deliberate decision by the designer to create an interior full of authentic character and harmony.
Modernity in a shade of blue
To liven up the classic interior, a modern touch was introduced in the form of an intense blue colour. In the living area, the entire ceiling is covered in this colour, giving the space depth and an innovative expression, while in the rooms, blue adorns the walls, creating a subtle contrast with the warm tones of wood and stone. This unconventional mix – vintage with a modern twist – is a true oxymoron that both delights and inspires.
The design of the flat is based on a sophisticated approach to the division of space. The small living room, carefully planned, combines both the lounge and dining areas, allowing for comfortable use when every inch of space is thoughtfully considered. The study, which with its exceptional sea view invites daily reflection, stands out not only for its panoramic view, but also for its richly decorated interior filled with unique furniture and accessories.
Furniture as works of art
Several pieces of furniture were created from the apartment’s own design – a unique coffee table and an elegant console in the living area emphasise the individual character of the arrangement. In addition, existing pieces such as the bookcase and the chest of drawers have been upholstered in beautiful Italian sintering, giving them a luxurious look. A desk with an intricately cut-out leg, by Szyszka Design, is an extremely striking detail, while a comfortable armchair not only tempts, but also invites you to relax.
The bedroom, combined with a private bathroom and dressing room, is a space where luxury meets comfort. A wealth of stucco and an impressive large-format painting create a mood of tranquillity, while blue accents subtly contrast with the rust colours of the bathroom and the natural oak finish of the furniture. The end result is an interior that cosy with its elegance and provides the occupants with a sense of harmony.
A fusion of styles
The overall arrangement creates a unique space where vintage combines with modern in a way that not only delights, but also provides functionality and aesthetic comfort on a daily basis. Blue accents, lamps, furniture and carefully selected details create an atmosphere of calm and joy, while the sea view further enhances the feeling of relaxation. This flat is proof that the precise juxtaposition of tradition and modern trends can create a space full of inspiration that responds to the needs of contemporary residents.
This project is a reminder that interiors can be both a thoughtful oasis of comfort and a place for expressive artistic expression. Every detail – from the large structure of the space to the smallest finishing touches – demonstrates the passion and attention to consistency of style, allowing joy and harmony to be derived from everyday surroundings.

About the studio:
Marta Siedlok has been running her interior design studio “FORMAT WNĘTRZA” for six years. Her work is guided by Vitruvius’ triad, which states that architecture should meet three key conditions: beauty, durability and usability. Every project carried out in her studio must meet these three criteria. She always starts her design work with a long conversation with the client to get a sense of their needs and preferences. She puts the client first, and the carefully selected furniture and structures are intended to create a harmonious backdrop for the lives of the inhabitants of each interior.
