The remodelling of the Brda house, which was carried out by architects from Dwa Concept studio, is an example that old buildings can be thoroughly renovated, giving them new life. This 85-square-metre interior has been modernised, refreshed aesthetically, and adapted to the contemporary needs of the residents. We invite you to the Podhale region, where the remodeled Brda House is located.
According to the investors’ guidelines, the interior was to be dark, modern and with character. The owners also wanted the interior to become more spacious, and the materials and furniture used were to refer to the character of the place and the traditions of the Podhale region.
“We started work on this project by developing a new functional layout. By demolishing some of the walls, the living area became more spacious and functional. At the same time, we wanted to preserve the existing wood so that the interior would relate to the traditions and the location where the house is located. We kept the wooden ceiling – the change of colour gave it a new character. The remaining visible wooden elements were cleaned and protected.” – says Dagmara Soból-Drabczyk of Dwa Concept studio
It was also important to acquire new spaces for storage. Due to the small footprint, this was crucial in order to be able to design the interior in an aesthetically pleasing and functional way.
