The Poznań Municipal Housing Resources Board (ZKZL) is continuing intensive renovation work on the city’s housing stock. After the start of the modernisation of buildings on Fabryczna Street in Wilda, this time the time has come for another investment in Świerczewo. The historic houses on Akacjowa Street, erected in 1942 as housing facilities for employees of the Hipolit Cegielski Works, will undergo comprehensive renovation.
The modernisation will cover a number of key elements. ZKZL is planning to replace the roofing with the reinforcement of its structure and repair the chimneys. In addition, a new lightning protection system will be installed, improving the safety of the buildings. An important element of the works is the thermo-modernisation of walls and roofs, which will contribute to the reduction of heat loss and lower heating costs. During the renovation, the window and door carpentry will be partly replaced, while preserving the original character and original divisions, as the buildings are under conservation protection. The historic external stairs and balustrades will also be renovated. The works will also include the replacement of plumbing and electrical installations in the common parts, as well as the renovation of the staircases.

One of the key aims of the modernisation is to combat smog. ZKZL will do away with 39 tiled cookers, replacing them with a modern central heating and hot water installation. In addition, out of concern for the environment, nesting boxes for birds will be placed on the façade of the buildings in places indicated by ornithologists. The total cost of the investment will amount to PLN 6.8 million. The company plans to obtain non-refundable co-financing from the BGK Surcharge Fund, which will make it possible to cover part of the expenses. The work is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2026.
