Collage workshop inspired by Kusama’s work at Studio 225.

Erotic vintage books, sensual postcards from flea markets, glitter, confetti and other wonders – a collage workshop inspired by Kusama’s work at Studio 225.

In a world that constantly demands being ‘on time’, ‘for others’, being ‘productive’ – Studio 225 invites all women to a space where they can simply be… themselves. on 24 April, Studio 225 expert Zuza Zła will take participants of the event into the fascinating world of erotic collage art and creative freedom. You will immerse yourself in creative experimentation – cutting, gluing, creating works that stir your imagination. Sometimes very gently, sometimes brazenly bold.

First a lecture

This will not be an academic overview of her work – rather, it will be a full-blooded story about a woman who stripped away conventions faster than clothes in the 1960s. Yayoi Kusama painted dots on the bodies of participants in performance orgies, performed homosexual weddings in the name of the ‘church’ she founded, and today – at almost a century old – is still creating. Her story is a reminder that art can be a manifesto for freedom. Of the body. Of the mind. Of sexuality. From the lecture led by Zuza, you will not only learn why Kusama was an absolute revolutionary, but also where you can see her work today – perfect info for all fans of city breaks under the motto #art.

So here we go!

After this dose of history, the participants of the mini-workshop will go into action. You will create your own erotic collage – and no, you don’t need to have Picasso-like talent. It’s all about fun and complete freedom of imagination! There will be: vintage pornographic books from France, German erotic postcards from flea markets, 1970s newspapers, coloured transparencies, papers, carbon paper, glitter, confetti and other wonders. It will be a combination of DIY and art therapy at its best.
The result? An original erotic card to take home – either as a keepsake or a message to yourself.

A few words about the expert

Zuzanna Zła is an aesthete with a mission. She creates workshops that teach you to look deeper and feel more – not only in the gallery, but also in everyday life. She believes that art is not an academic abstraction, but a tool to build sensitivity, imagination and a relationship with oneself. She teaches classes that combine stories about forgotten artists with creative action. Her lectures are journeys through stories that have lain in the shadows of male names and museum narratives for too long. She creates illustrations, zines and collages – not only out of a need for expression, but also as a way of reclaiming women’s narratives in art.

For whom

The workshop is a safe space free from judgement, for anyone who wants to give their creativity a wild go – regardless of artistic experience or beliefs. It is the art of letting go and having fun, without censorship and without infliction. This meeting does not require ‘talent’. It’s not about being ‘perfect’. It is about being real. It’s a space for each of us – mothers, singles, feminists, entrepreneurs, dreamers, activists, introverts, expressive souls and those who are just looking for their spark. It doesn’t matter who you are in your everyday life – here you can be yourself, totally and without filters.
