Modernism in architecture and interior design has always been associated with order, geometry and clear divisions of space. Today, it is increasingly making a comeback in interpretations that break rigid rules and enrich them with colours, lightness and playfulness of form. One such project is the design of a flat in Kołobrzeg by Projektive Studio, where classic modernist inspirations meet an Italian sense of freedom and joy.
The project was created for a family with two children, a dog and two cats. Already at the stage of discussions with the owners, architects Karolina Wilgucka-Burzyńska, Joanna Rogocka and Izabela Maciejewska-Gałaś set themselves the goal of creating an interior tailored to the inhabitants’ daily rituals and passions. The principals are lovers of cinema, particularly the work of Wes Anderson, and photography. They were not interested in ready-made solutions and schemes; they wanted a home that would tell a story about themselves.
The basis of the arrangement of the Kołobrzeg project by Projektive Studio is a simple division of space and a light colour palette. These elements, however, have been broken with “claw” accents that define the expressive character of the flat. Red doors, a dark blue washbasin or original lamps introduce energy and dynamism and a sense that the interior is unique and one-of-a-kind – exactly as the owners intended. Particularly in the living room and kitchen, the penchant for bold colour combinations and forms is evident.

The bedroom, on the other hand, has been designed to promote tranquillity. The dark blue walls and wallpaper on the ceiling create an atmosphere of calm and intimacy. The bathroom, on the other hand, surprises with pastel fronts juxtaposed with colourful ceramics and a variety of textures.
The design of the flat in Kołobrzeg is the result of close cooperation between the architects and the investors. Every detail has been thought through to best reflect the personality of the occupants and their needs. This is not another catalogue realisation, but a space that has taken on an individual tone and become a story about the family for whom it was created. The owners emphasise that this interior is a reflection of them, and this was precisely the aim of the project.
