They have bizarre shapes. Naczyniaki ceramika is a project by Maria Jagłowska, under which she creates mood-lifting lamps. Each is the result of manual work and is therefore different and unique.
As she admits, she cannot explain why the lamps take on these shapes. The creative process for the lamps is based on intuition, experimentation and spontaneity. She does not analyse designs, she does not spend hours on sketches and concepts. He simply works.
The colourful lamps are inspired by everything that surrounds her. Their author, Maria Jagłowska, studied painting and textiles. For a long time, she focused on classical subjects such as still life and scenes of everyday life. At the same time, she kept sketchbooks, which were the opposite of her paintings. They were filled with humanised animals and fantastic creatures.
With the professor’s encouragement, I began to transfer this world to canvas, then to tattoos and carpets. Ceramics became the natural next step – one more way to express my imagination,” says the artist.
She sees ceramics as a medium that allows her to transfer her visions from the world to reality. The resulting lamps are versatile enough to become both an animal and a ‘freak’. When the two bases are combined, giant freaks are created, a novelty in the artist’s range. They are all produced by hand. The tallest ones with a lampshade are up to 52 cm high.
Maria Jagłowska has been active in ceramics since 2021. She is a graduate of painting with a specialisation in artistic textiles from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Lamps designed by Maria Jagłowska can be purchased on the official website HERE. Lamp shades are sold separately. In addition to lamps, Maria Jagłowska also creates vessels – cups, plates and smaller decorative objects.
