The centuries-old tenement houses in Gdańsk at 1 Pniewskiego Street and 7 Jaskowa Dolina Street are regaining their former glory. The comprehensive renovation has already passed the halfway point of the works. This is another investment carried out by Gdańskie Nieruchomości under the Integrated Territorial Investments programme. More than 2,200 sq m of usable space for offices and non-governmental institutions will be created in the tenements.
The general renovation was preceded by the preparation of a programme of conservation works, taking into account, among other things, the renovation and restoration of architectural details, so that after thermomodernisation the buildings regain their former charm, while offering comfortable and ecological interiors. The townhouses were built at the turn of the 20th century. The first one, a corner building with a brick façade, was built in the eclectic style, while the second one, whose front façade is plastered, refers to the Baroque and classicism style. Both buildings were in need of general renovation and above all the restoration of the verandas, which had been demolished over the years.
In accordance with conservation guidelines, architectural details are being restored. The buildings are currently undergoing work related to the installation of carved wooden window frames and work on the façade – the restoration of cornices, plinths and decorative architectural details, as well as finishing work on balconies and terraces. Inside the buildings, finishing works are in progress.
Both the facades and interiors of the townhouses are undergoing comprehensive renovation. Thermomodernisation works include the roof, façade, but also waterproofing. A new central heating system is also planned for both buildings, as well as the replacement of the primary appliances powered by electricity with new, energy-efficient ones with automation adjusting energy consumption and efficiency. Lifts have been installed in the building.
The total value of the investment is more than PLN 26 million. The expected completion date is the third quarter of 2024.
