CUWJO headquarters in Poznań after renovation. The monument from Jeżyce impresses with its elegance!

The headquarters of the CUWJO, or more precisely the Headquarters of the Shared Services Centre for Educational Units, which is located in Poznań’s Jeżyce district, once again impresses with its elegant façade. The monument has just undergone renovation, which has allowed it to regain its character and beauty. The building is part of a historic school complex built at the turn of the 20th century.

The CUWJO headquarters after renovation is impressive

– Residents walking along Slowackiego Street have certainly already noticed the effects of the renovation of the south façade, as the scaffolding there has been removed. The bricks have been cleaned and any cavities filled in. The contractor is now carrying out similar work on the north elevation, i.e. from the courtyard. The other two smaller gable walls are also being changed. There is also a lot going on inside,” says Tomasz Płóciniczak, vice-president of the company Poznanskie Inwestycje Miejskie.

Modernisation work began in autumn on the ground floor of the building on Słowackiego Street, the aim of which is to adapt the rooms to the needs of the CUWJO. The former classrooms have been divided into smaller offices. All partition walls are already built. Installation and plastering work is currently in progress. Internal window sills are also being installed.

Special attention is being paid by the contractor to the renovation of the internal door woodwork. The labour-intensive process of removing non-original paint layers and preserving the ornamentation is underway; ultimately, the doors will regain their original colour.

CUWJO in Poznań – not just a façade renovation

In the basement of the main building, the contractor’s task is, among other things, to dry and insulate the walls and insulate the foundations. Most of the renovation plasters have already been laid there, i.e. “breathable” plasters adapted to the specifics of the historic building. In the basement, a lot of attention has been paid to the various installations, including ventilation. Technical rooms will also be separated there.

All work is being carried out in accordance with respect for the historical character of the building, in consultation with the conservation officer. The remaining floors were modernised in previous years. The extensive refurbishment of the premises was intended to adapt the building to its new function and to comply with accessibility requirements for people with disabilities and fire safety regulations.

Established in 2020 by the city council, the CUWJO provides administrative, financial and organisational services to schools and kindergartens for which Poznań is the leading authority.
