Design for Society and join the “Innovation Generator. Support Network 3”

Can design make a difference to the lives of people in late adulthood? Recruitment is underway for the third edition of ‘Innovation Generator. Support Network’, a project that seeks creative solutions to the challenges faced by people in late adulthood. Innovators, whether students, experienced designers or complete novices with a keen observation and an interesting idea, have a unique opportunity to create an innovative solution that can make a real difference to the daily lives of people in late adulthood. This is not only a chance to develop skills, but also to contribute to the creation of a more supportive and inclusive society.

With an increasing number of people in late adulthood facing a variety of challenges such as isolation, problems accessing services or difficulties with daily activities, among others, the ‘Innovation Generator’ is looking for creative minds ready to develop bold new solutions and social services. How can design and design thinking contribute to creating a more inclusive, supportive environment for an ageing society? This project is not just about responding to current problems, but also about anticipating future needs and designing services that are accessible and welcoming to everyone.

An innovation from previous Generator editions, ‘Bicycle Rickshaws’ is one excellent example of how innovative solutions can respond to the challenges of people in late adulthood while anticipating future needs. The innovators involved in this project have not only created rickshaws tailored to the needs of older people, but more importantly have designed a comprehensive social service that enables seniors to actively participate in society. As a result, people in late adulthood can travel around the city in comfort, connect with peers and enjoy physical activity outdoors. This is an example of how design is not just limited to a product, but encompasses a holistic service that promotes social inclusion and improves quality of life.

The above concept perfectly illustrates that participating in Generator is a great opportunity to develop skills in design thinking, prototyping and intercultural and intergenerational collaboration. Through practical workshops, collaboration with experienced mentors and experts in the field of ageing and longevity, participants will be able to develop, test and adapt their ideas. In addition, the programme offers the opportunity to experiment with a variety of project methods. The Generator is no ordinary grant. The project gives space for ideas to be tested, fleshed out and tweaked. And everything is supervised by experienced experts willing to help and share their knowledge.

As Ewa, a participant in the previous edition of Generator, recalls: “The tutor acted as a guardian angel over the project, which actually gave a sense of security. The experts answered various questions,

which was particularly important for us. Thanks to the tutor, it was possible to get answers to many doubts and deal with various issues. We tested many solutions, saw some difficulties, but also gained valuable experiences and interesting stories that will definitely stay with us.”

Participants in the programme will not only get the chance to realise their innovative ideas, but can also count on financial support of up to PLN 90,000 to test and implement their solutions. Cooperation with experts related to fields such as ageing and longevity design, psychology, UX research and others who will oversee the development of the projects and share valuable knowledge awaits them. The programme is also a series of workshops that will not only broaden your design skills but also give you a better understanding of innovative creative processes. What’s more, it’s a unique opportunity to build networks with other designers, innovators and organisations, which could result in further collaborations and support for future projects.

Don’t miss this opportunity to make a difference! Apply for the programme “Innovation Generator. Support Networks 3′ and develop ideas for new longevity. Recruitment is only open until 7 November!
