This is the first chain in Poland that has decided to introduce shopping trolleys for dogs. The enclosed structures can carry dogs weighing up to 25 kg.
By introducing dog trolleys, Auchan addresses the problem of pets being left tied up in front of shop entrances. In the first instance, the trolleys appeared in three Auchan hypermarkets in Poznań.
Tests of the solution are being carried out in three Auchan hypermarkets: Komorniki, Swadzim and Bukowska. The transport trolleys are designed for animals weighing between 10 and 25 kg. The chain ensures that the trolley is disinfected after each use. The mat that covers the base of the trolley is also cleaned.
Dogs are treated as family members, we care for them, we look after them, we groom them. They accompany us at home, on holiday, in various living situations, when we run everyday errands and often when we go shopping. At Auchan, this approach is very dear to us. Hence the idea of introducing special dog trolleys. This allows customers to conveniently do their shopping with their dog under control while maintaining hygiene and safety. We are convinced that owners of larger dogs will appreciate the possibility to do the shopping in the company of their pet,” said Hanna Bernatowicz, communication director at Auchan Polska.
The black trolleys were introduced in two versions. One with a flat top surface, the other in the shape of a canopy. A space for products was provided at the back near the handrail.
Assistance dogs can enter all Auchan shops in Poland. Small dogs and other pets can also be brought in, but they must be kept on their hands, in a basket or in carriers. Now, four-legged dogs that can tolerate transport well in closed containers can also accompany their owners on the shop floor.
