In the heart of Krakow, a flat has been created that delights not only with its modern design, but also with elements inspired by Japanese aesthetics. The space, where contrast and harmony meet in everyday life, was designed with extraordinary attention to detail, creating a functional and coherent interior that is a combination of intense colours and minimalist elegance.
Right from the entrance, attention is drawn to the well-thought-out colour composition, which seamlessly introduces guests to an atmosphere inspired by the traditions of the Far East. In the kitchen, the play of colours is clearly perceptible – powder pink intertwines with deep maroon, accentuating the geometry of the interior. The seamless transition between the darker parts of the furniture and the lighter floor evokes the philosophy of yin and yang, where each contrasting element coexists in perfect balance, creating a dynamic yet harmonious arrangement.
A nod to Japan
The focal point of the space is the dining room, where a massive black table is a strong accent to the arrangement. Above the table stretches the Formakami lamp, by Jaime Hayon designed for &Tradition, whose soft light introduces an intimate and warm atmosphere, ideal for both family gatherings and moments of private reflection. The whole is complemented by classic Fameg chairs and Japanese crockery, including ramen plates decorated with a koi motif.
The flat’s living room exudes a spirit of minimalism and focus on quality, and its décor is based on carefully selected elements that testify to a love of literature and art. The presence of a bookcase full of books and small memorabilia, combined with subtle furniture from Tamo Design, such as an RTV cabinet and an elegant coffee table, creates a place that invites relaxation and intellectual reflection. The tranquillity of this interior provides the perfect backdrop for everyday life, where every element is a thoughtful accent not only aesthetically but also functionally.
The bedroom, decorated in muted beige and muted green, is a refuge of tranquillity after an eventful day. A subtle reproduction of an Ohara Koson woodcut on one of the walls brings a touch of artistic expression to the space, combining old tradition with a modern form. This tranquil composition of colours and motifs promotes relaxation and allows for daily contemplation, which brings balance between body and mind.
Thoughtful division of functions
The bathrooms in the flat are also not without a distinct individuality. One of them impresses with its light, sandy colour scheme and the carefully selected Plama mirror by Giera Design, which makes the space optically larger and lighter. In a contrasting solution, the second bathroom is dominated by a deep forest green, where an intense red radiator acts as an expressive accent. This contrasting colour combination perfectly fits in with the philosophy of balance that accompanies the entire design of this unique interior.

The flat design perfectly illustrates how contemporary design can draw inspiration from Japanese traditions, using colour contrast to emphasise the harmony between modern living and respect for tradition. Every element – from the thoughtful entrance, dynamic kitchen, intimate dining room and cosy living room to the calming bedroom and bathrooms – has been carefully designed to create a space where practicality intertwines with artistic expression.
