Nestled among the majestic peaks of the Giant Mountains is a 140-square-metre flat that combines theatrical space with cosy character. It is a surprise gift for the investor’s mother, designed from scratch while the building was still under construction, which made it possible to avoid later alterations and ensure consistency between construction and arrangement. The interior design of the flat was created in the Na Antresoli studio.
The interior design was inspired by modern Alpine architecture. The flat is divided into two clearly demarcated zones: the day zone and the night zone. In the living zone, the central place is occupied by the kitchen with an island, discreetly cut off from the entrance by high furniture. On the right is the seating area with an elegant wall unit with sliding fronts, which conceals the TV set. On the left is a large table surrounded by chairs and a fireplace, whose surround flows smoothly into the corridor leading to the bedroom. In the night area, there are two bathrooms and three bedrooms, all kept in the same colour and texture palette, yet with their own individual character through small details and accessories.
Design challenges
The greatest asset, and at the same time the difficulty in working on this interior, was the impressive heights of the rooms. Such a spectacular height required a balance of proportions and the perfect choice of materials to ensure that the space did not lose its cosiness. The designers confronted monumentality with an intimate atmosphere, juxtaposing cool stone slabs with noble veneer and soft lamplight. As a result, the interior strikes a balance between the impression of spaciousness and the warmth of a domestic retreat. Work on the interior design began in 2021, when the building was still under construction.

Materials and lighting
The dominant palette consists of taupe and olive shades and the natural textures of wood, stone and sinters. The oak floorboard with surround and the Italian veneer in the furniture fittings introduce a timeless minimalism. The kitchen pedestal, worktops and floors in the kitchen and bathrooms are finished with quartzite sintering, creating a uniform, harmonious base. In the interior, three NCS shades, one type of stone and sinter, and one paint colour appear – thus achieving a consistent, balanced effect with a small range of materials.

Lighting acts as an artistic accent. Design icons included Flos Frisbi, Vibia Kontur and Lee Broom Eclipse lamps, alongside more niche AUDO Hashira models or Tom Rossau designs. Precisely selected light sources highlight the textures, divide the space and complete the interior aesthetic. Designed in this way, the flat has become an ideal place to relax and a base from which to explore the mountain trails.

About the studio:
Pracownia Na Mezresoli is a Wrocław-based team designing interiors since 2014. It was founded by two graduates of the Faculty of Architecture at Wrocław University of Technology – Natalia Jankowiak and Kamila Piętka-Rakowiecka – and since 2018 an experienced project manager, Ewa Wlezień, has been supervising the implementation of the projects. The studio specialises in the comprehensive design of residential and commercial interiors, from the development of the functional layout to the supervision of execution. The basis of the work is close listening to the client’s needs, attention to detail, the use of natural materials and appropriate lighting, which makes each interior both functional and individual in form.
