Three new biocenotic gardens have been created in Warsaw to support biodiversity and provide residents with an opportunity to interact with nature. The investment was carried out as part of the civic budget and was managed by the Warsaw Greenery Board.
The new green spaces are located at Kijowska Street in Praga-Północ, in the park at Bernardyńska Woda in Mokotów and in Fort Bema Park in Bemowo. Their total area exceeds 5,000 square metres, and the largest garden, occupying 2,500 square metres, was created in Mokotów. The gardens provide habitats for native plant and animal species. They enrich the city landscape, promote water retention and create spaces conducive to relaxation.

A variety of trees, shrubs and perennials have been planted in Praga-North, including hawthorn, mountain ash, wild rose, as well as verticum, meadow cranesbill and yarrow. Bulbous plants such as tulips, crocus and snowdrops were also introduced. The area has been fenced with wicker fences and supplemented with dead wood to create habitats for insects. Birds have also been taken care of by installing nest boxes and drinkers.

The largest biocenotic garden was created in Mokotow. Several weeping willows, around a thousand shrubs, more than two thousand perennials and a flower meadow were planted there. New walking paths, benches and bins were created, making the space easier to use. Natural elements in the form of wicker fences, branch fences and wood fragments were also used, which have both a decorative and ecological function.

Garden at Bema Fort
An area of around 1,500sq m in Bemowo was tidied up, where more than 2,400 plants were planted, including small-leaved lime trees, hawthorns, shrubs and bulbous plants. The garden also included fruit shrubs and perennials characteristic of deciduous woodland. The hills were planted with ground cover plants to limit the spread of invasive species. Mineral and dirt paths and wooden seating were provided for visitors.
All biocenotic gardens are equipped with information boards that explain the idea behind their creation and encourage responsible use of these spaces. Some of the plaques draw attention to the importance of watering the bird boxes and remind visitors that they are in a wildlife area. The garden in Praga-North was completed in 2024 and the other two in late July 2025.
