International architecture studio Foster Partners will open its office in the Varso Tower building. The architects will work on the 44th floor of the tallest building in the European Union. It will be the largest foreign office of the studio in Europe outside London
The opening of Foster Partners’ new office in Warsaw is a sign that Poland is becoming an important place to realise projects for the most famous architectural offices in the world. The London-based studio’s Warsaw office will be the largest of their European branches. Foster Partners has offices in Madrid, Beijing, Dubai, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, New York and Sydney, among others
The Foster Partners architectural practice was founded by Norman Foster in 1967. The UK-based firm’s architects have designed many iconic buildings and structures around the world. These include the Bloomberg office block in London (we wrote about it HERE), the Commerzbank sk yscraper in Franfurt, the Millennium Bridge in London, the highest road bridge in the world – the Viaduct in Millau, the 50 Hudson Yards and 270 Park Avenue skyscrapers in New York, the Metropolitan office block in Warsaw or, last but not least, Warsaw’s Varso skyscraper, in which the Polish headquarters will open. Foster Partners is also responsible for the design of the Central Transport Port (new visualisations of the port were published HERE)
After more than 35 years of working in Central Europe, including 25 years of presence in Warsaw, setting up an office here was a natural step for our studio. This will be Foster Partners’ largest European office outside the UK, and the decision to move into the Varso Tower we designed reflects our belief in Poland’s strength and importance in Europe. It demonstrates our commitment to Warsaw as a world-class location to do business in the region,” says Grant Brooker, Head of Studio at Foster Partners
‘Warsaw is a thriving city with a bright future that we want to be part of. We are looking forward to opening an office in Varso Tower, where we will be able to present our approach to design work to visiting clients – adds Krzysztof Górnicki, Senior Partner at Foster Partners
The Warsaw office is supposed to be a window to Central Europe and make the studio realise projects in neighbouring countries. The location of the studio’s headquarters in Warsaw is an opportunity for Polish architects who will be able to develop their skills working on international projects
The Varso Tower building designed by Foster Partners has an area of 70,000 square metres. The studio’s office will occupy a space of 730 sq m in the building. The skyscraper itself has been designed on the basis of solutions that promote energy saving and increase the comfort of users. The building can also be used by residents, for whom a public area has been designed. It consists of dozens of trees, and two roof terraces have been created inside, one of which has sixteen trees that form the tallest garden in Warsaw. The construction of the skyscraper was carried out by HB Reavis
