The Galmighty Pilates studio has opened in the new residential area of Żoliborz – a space designed by Ewelina Górmińska of MOODSPACE STUDIO. It is an interior that combines minimalism with subtle nods to retro aesthetics, without, however, being confined by rigid stylistic definitions. The architect emphasises that such frameworks can be limiting, and that the key to this project was to create a space that appeals to the senses and aids concentration whilst working with the body.
The conceptual basis was drawn from the client’s inspirations: a warm colour palette featuring shades of cinnamon, pink and burgundy, patterned tiles and gold-copper accents. The whole was to be feminine, but not overtly so – rather based on an atmosphere of calm and inner strength. The studio’s motto, “HEY GAL, BE ALMIGHTY!”, became the starting point for creating an interior in which users would feel confident and comfortable.
A functional layout tailored to movement
The premises are located in a new commercial building, previously used for a completely different purpose. The layout was therefore redesigned to meet the requirements of a Pilates studio. Upon entering, there is an area where you can leave your coats and shoes. Further on, there is a reception area and a glass partition offering a view of the exercise room.
One of the key areas is the spacious relaxation zone – a space with comfortable seating and a drinks preparation area. This is where intimate events dedicated to women take place. Further on, there is a changing room with a large bathroom, showers and an additional washbasin. On the opposite side is a training room equipped with original Balanced Body reformers, handcrafted in California.
Atmosphere
The biggest challenge proved to be the selection of materials – natural, durable and safe to use. The design features stone, wood and lime plaster, which lend the interior a sense of softness and visual depth. The architect emphasises that in commercial premises, technical parameters such as ventilation, air conditioning and acoustics are just as important as aesthetics. These are elements that are not visible, but which determine the comfort of exercise and rest.

One of the most satisfying solutions turned out to be the rounded island clad in small tiles. Its construction required close collaboration between the joiner and the finishing team. The stone worktop conceals the sinks beneath its surface – a practical and elegant solution that organises the space.
The architect also particularly values the design of the toilet: burgundy walls paired with an apricot lamp and a striking mirror create an interior with a strong yet unobtrusive character. The inspiration for this colour scheme had been waiting in her archives for a long time.
Colour as a tool for enhancing the mood
A warm, natural palette dominates throughout the studio: beiges, browns, ochre, pink and burgundy. These are calm yet not conservative colours – they possess an energy and boldness that the architect sought to emphasise when designing a space dedicated to women. The colour scheme creates an atmosphere of tranquillity whilst lending the interior a distinct character.
From the outset, the client had clearly defined expectations and an excellent sense of aesthetics, which allowed for seamless collaboration. The inspiration was nature and feminine strength – a theme that runs through every aspect of the project, from the chosen materials to the details.
