The tenement house at 12b Na Stoku Street, an example of eclectic architecture from the early 20th century, underwent extensive modernisation as part of the ‘Revitalisation of Biskupia Górka and Stare Chełm’ programme. The project, carried out by Gdanskie Nieruchomości, has made the building a place serving the residents once again. The comprehensive renovation of the building lasted from December 2022 to November 2024.
As part of the investment, the 1900 townhouse located in Biskupia Górka was renovated, giving it new life and at the same time preserving the historic character of the building. The building gained two council flats, carefully restored and brought up to modern standards.

The work began with the foundations, where horizontal and vertical insulation and a foundation slab were made, providing solid support for the structure. The façade of the building underwent a comprehensive renovation, and the architectural details were faithfully recreated, reflecting the spirit of the era. At the same time, a new roof with wooden rafter construction was built.

The common areas, such as corridors and the staircase, have been kept in an atmosphere reminiscent of the building’s heyday. The interiors of the units have been finished to a modern standard, creating spacious flats equipped with bathrooms and kitchen annexes. In addition, all ceilings were replaced with reinforced concrete, monolithic ceilings, which significantly improved the stability and durability of the building, giving it modern functionality while respecting its historical character.
New sanitary, water supply, ventilation, electrical, teletechnical systems were installed in the tenement, as well as hydrant, earthing and lightning protection systems. The use of a state-of-the-art Building Management System (BMS) allows for efficient monitoring of energy and utility consumption. New airtight doors and windows with historic divisions also fit in with the renewed image of the building.
The renovation, which cost more than PLN 1.5 million, is part of a wide-ranging plan to revitalise Biskupia Górka and Stare Chełm, aiming to restore the historical buildings in this part of Gdańsk to their former glory.
