A major refurbishment of the Social Skills Training Centre located at 48 Wyzwolenia Street in Nowy Port has been completed. The work, which was carried out by Gdańskie Nieruchomości, was carried out as part of the Integrated Territorial Investments programme. The total cost of the renovation amounted to almost PLN 11 million, of which more than one million PLN came from EU funding.
The building was designed for the charges of the St. Brother Albert’s Society and the Municipal Family Welfare Centre. It now offers 52 rooms that can simultaneously accommodate nearly 100 people receiving various forms of support. The renovation took 15 months and included a series of comprehensive works to adapt the facility to fulfil its mission. The refurbishment included insulation, structural, plumbing and finishing works, creating a welcoming and functional space.

In particular, a number of facilities have been introduced for people with disabilities, such as grab bars in the bathrooms, folding shower chairs and wheelchair-accessible cookers and sinks. In addition, the building has been fitted with a lift and a summoning system that allows help to be summoned quickly in an emergency.

The safety of users is also ensured by a state-of-the-art fire alarm system, which automatically alerts the building’s occupants when a threat is detected. In the event of a fire, an acoustic alarm is activated, allowing staff to react quickly and begin evacuation. In addition, the building is equipped with a Building Management System, which automatically controls the technical functions of the building, monitoring the operating parameters of individual devices and reporting problems and failures.
The refurbishment of the building at 48 Wyzwolenia Street will significantly improve the quality of life of people with disabilities, offering them a modern and safe environment to develop and support them in their daily functioning.
