The eclectic tenement house at 27 Biskupia St. in Gdańsk, in Biskupia Górka, is undergoing extensive renovation, restoring it to its former glory. The investment is being carried out by Gdańskie Nieruchomości as part of the ‘Revitalisation of Biskupia Górka Starego Chełm’ programme, co-financed by the Pomeranian Voivodeship’s Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020.
The building, erected in 1900, is an important element of the historic landscape of Gdańsk and is listed in the Communal Register of Historical Monuments. The tenement houses eight residential units, which will be given a new shine once the renovation work is completed.

The scope of the renovation is extensive and includes horizontal and vertical insulation, making a foundation slab and replacing all the ceilings with new reinforced concrete ones. It also includes new plastering, a roof with wooden rafters and a new staircase modelled on the historic ones. The work also concerns the thermal insulation of the roof, the external walls of the basement and the walls above ground level. As part of the renovation, guttering, downpipes, flashings and window and door joinery are being replaced.

In addition, it is planned to carry out new detailing and eaves, painting of the facade, as well as conservation work on the building’s façade and restoration of architectural details. The interiors of the residential units will be redecorated and the premises prepared for the installation of a central heating and hot water district heating centre. Comprehensive installation work and teletechnical works are also part of the renovation.

The renovation started in December 2022 and is scheduled to be completed in September 2024. The total cost of the investment is approximately PLN 3.9 million.
The renovation of the tenement house at 27 Biskupia Street is an important project to improve living conditions and protect the architectural heritage of Gdańsk. The renovated building will become an ornament of Biskupia Górka, testifying to the city’s care for its historical resources.
