The tenement house at 25 Na Stoku Street in Gdańsk, located in the picturesque Biskupia Górka, is undergoing a comprehensive renovation to restore it to its former glory. The work is being carried out by Gdańskie Nieruchomości as part of the ‘Revitalisation of Biskupia Górka and Stare Chełm’ programme, co-financed by the Pomeranian Voivodeship’s Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020.
The building, erected in the second half of the 19th century, is an important element of the historical landscape of Gdansk and is listed in the Communal Register of Historical Monuments. The tenement consists of six residential units and its renovation is being carried out in accordance with the conservation work programme.
One of the most interesting features of the building are the historic inscriptions on the front façade, which have been restored and exposed during the renovation. These inscriptions are from pre-war signs, when a restaurant called ‘Restaurant Zur Bischofs Quelle’ operated in the building.
In addition to the work visible on the outside, such as new windows and the colour of the brick facade, the renovation also includes a number of internal upgrades. Comprehensive insulation, structural and installation work has already been carried out. The finishing work is currently underway, and a Building Management System will be installed in the tenement to monitor energy and utility consumption.
The refurbishment work started in March 2023 and is expected to be completed in September 2024. The total investment cost is more than PLN 7.5 million. Thanks to this comprehensive renovation, the tenement at 25 Na Stoku Street will regain its historical character and become one of the renewed symbols of Biskupia Górka.
