We already know what exhibitions this year’s edition of Gdynia Design Days will surprise us with. A full list with descriptions is availableon the festival website(www.gdyniadesigndays.eu). The organisers have set their sights on events showcasing a variety of design issues and disciplines, the common denominator of which is an individual interpretation of the watchword: “Dispersion”.
Here are some of the exhibitions that will be on view from the end of June:
- “Cycle”- by visiting the exhibition you will be able to find out what the product life cycle means and what its stages are, as well as see concrete examples of LCA analyses, which will help you understand the environmental impact of different objects. Curator: Dorota Kabała.
- “Ghosts of Tomorrow” – an open-air exhibition of large-format flags that convey important themes and bear witness to our – as humanity – social, ecological and systemic failures. Curated by Kuki Krzysztof Iwański.
- ‘The Art of Ageing’-who will we be and what will be important to us in a world that is not slowing down? The exhibition is an attempt to look into the future of all of us and the process of ageing of societies Curators: Izabela Serej, Aleksandra Majdzik-Cisowska and Szymon Serej.
- “Typoteka.pl” – a story about identity, memory and design, an exhibition dedicated to Polish typefaces and their creators. Curators: Mateusz Machalski, Michał Jarociński, Andrzej Tomaszewski, Adam Twardoch, Ania Wieluńska, Borys Kosmynka.
- ‘The product of the flat’ – what are the causes and systemic conditions of the housing crisis? By analysing typical dwellings built in the same city but in different socio-economic contexts, can we better understand the functioning of our housing system? Curators: Zofia Piotrowska, Łukasz Stępnik, Milena Trzcińska.
- “New Generation” – do not ask the same questions and do not seek the same answers. They are not afraid to think and act differently – beyond the familiar and the obvious. New Generation is a review of works from five Polish design and art schools. Curators: the Gdynia Design Centre team.
As every year, the exhibitions will be located both on the premises of PPNT Gdynia (available to visitors between 10:00 and 20:00) and in several locations in the city space (hours given on the GDD website).
The above are only selected exhibitions from the extensive programme of Gdynia Design Days 2025. Detailed descriptions of the exhibitions are available at gdyniadesigndays.eu.
We encourage you to visit the website and also the festival’s social media, as this is only the beginning of the announcements. A full programme of lectures and workshops will also appear there in the coming weeks.
